Young Obama's Red Mentor

Before Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. became Barck Obama's mentor, there was Frank Marshall Davis.

Young Obama's Red Mentor

By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Tuesday, August 05, 2008 4:20 PM PT

Election '08: The mainstream media have finally gotten around to revealing Barack Obama's early mentor. But they've downplayed the mystery man's communist background.

As noted in the July 29 curtain-raiser to this series, the seeds of Obama's far-left ideology were planted in his formative years as a teenager growing up in Hawaii — and they were far more radical than any biography or media profile has portrayed.

A careful reading of Obama's first memoir, "Dreams From My Father," reveals that his childhood mentor up to the age of 18 — a man he refers to only as "Frank" — was none other than the late communist Frank Marshall Davis, who fled Chicago after the FBI and Congress opened investigations into his "subversive," "un-American activities."

In a belated story on the relationship, the Associated Press describes Davis as "left-leaning."

In fact, Davis was a member of the Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA, according to the 1953 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities of the Territory of Hawaii, which labeled him "a bitter opponent of capitalism." The report was introduced as evidence in the U.S. Senate Internal Security Subcommittee hearings probing the "Scope of Soviet Activity in the United States."

Trying to paint Sarah Palin as some sort of radical based on her alleged one time membership and the video that you posted is pretty amusing.

You say this and then post this thread. Pot. Meet Kettle.

You may not realize it, but you are likely turning the undecided voters on here against McCain because of your repeated smearing remarks. It's old. Older than Biden and McCain even. It's why people hate politics and hate the election process. Over 60% of your posts are anti-Obama instead of pro-McCain. How about touting your candidate instead of threads like this one? I'd much rather read about why McCain should be president instead of why Obama shouldn't. The message you send with your anti-Obama remarks is that the McCain message isn't a strong one so we must attack Obama's. I hate politics.

 McCain is not "my candidate." There are many more reasons that Obama is unfit to be president than why McCain should be president. I am only supporting McCain as the lesser of two evils, although McCain is growing on me. The best reason for voting for McCain is still that he is not a socialist posing as a moderate.

If people are predisposed to vote for a socialist like Obama, then nothing that I say will make them more or less likely to do so. I am just concerned that people will unknowingly vote for Obama and never realize that he supported a hospital's right to allow newborn babies to die in agony by withholding medical treatment from survivors of botched abortions. If, armed with that knowledge, people can still vote for Obama then I will pray for their soul.

Pray for your own soul. I'll worry about mine. Based on your posts, I'm pretty sure I don't want the Lord to link my name with yours.

It is always so entertaining how you misrepresent the facts. :sssh: And then how you have the audacity to question someone's moral compass by who they vote for.

If a person hung around a bunch of KKK members, but was not one himself, I wonder what you would say? Your associations do reflect on you, even if you never participated in the negative aspects of your friends lives.

Linking conservatism with immorality?

As controversial as AcesFull's posts are-as someone who respects him as a poster, I really am getting sick of all the Obama associations threads, even though I think I know his intentions- he really doesn't post anything immoral. The ad hominem attacks may be a bit unethical, but he hasn't done anything morally wrong. I am sure there are many more repugnant people out there with whom you should not want to be associated. with.

Hmmmmm... a socialist posing as a moderate or a moderate posing as a conservative?

Simple choice for some of us.

What facts would those be? Please, be specific, as I have in detailing Obama's three votes against legislation requiring doctors to provide medical assistance to surviving victims of abortions.

I have never heard anybody in this country argue that life has not yet begun for babies born with a beating heart, who in some cases lived for eight hours or more without medical assistance. Not Joe Biden. Not Ted Kennedy. Not John Kerry. Not Al Gore. Not even NARAL for America. Yet, Barack Obama was not moved into action when he heard testimony by witensses describing babies who were sent to a soiled linen room to die alone in agony with no medical care.

Infanticide is the mammoth issue looming on the horizon for Obama. Sarah Palin's celebration of life will offer voter's a stark contrast to Obama's stated belief that a baby is the punishment for a teenage girl's mistake.

Early term abortions have never been an issue that I have given much consideration to when voting in the past. However, Obama's extreme position of defending hospitals that practiced infanticide caught my attention in this campaign.

I knew that infanticide was common in the People's Republic of China but I had no idea that it was ever practiced and condoned in my own country.

Thank you for that tepid defense :D

There was a time criticizing the practice of infanticide or radical left wing politicians was not considered controversial in this country. I guess I am just old fashioned in that way.

I had not posted any details of Obama's association with Davis before because it by itself, it would have been no concern because of Obama's age at the time he knew Davis. However, the outrageous attacks on Palin and her family over the weekend and the attempt to portray Palin as an extremist herself pushed me over the edge last night.

The Davis association, which Obama discusses in one of his autobiographies, was the first of many with radical leftists so it does fit into a larger pattern.

Interesting how every candidate seems to recognize the need to appear as conservative as possible in order to get the votes.

Too bad there's not another Ronald Wilson Reagan in the wings.

Simply put, the ad hominem attacks aren't helping keep Obama out of office, from what I see. While I believe people need to know who Obama associates with, IMO the most effect way to keep him out of office is to attack Obama on the issues.

Then again, those threads are the ones with the least views.

Seriously. Why can't we have a true conservative just run, so we don't need to be pandered to? A conservative who can pander to the moderates- now that would be great.

I am not a diplomat and I am not a politician. I have no desire to be either. Anybody who casts a vote based on what some guy posts on a high school sports site is a fool, so I do not expect Obama will pick up many votes on account of anything that I say here.

So Obama is a socialist because he was friends with a communist? I've said it a million times, and perhaps it has fallen on deaf ears, but those are not the same thing.
