I know - that is my point. Obama's minions have been just making stuff up and this is one of the internet smears to which Palin was referring. The other one was the ridiculous theory that Palin was not the mother of her infant son. The people who engage in such fabrications to win elections are the lowest form of life - next to the baby killer/sympathizer at the top of the Democratic ticket.

 

I can also see liberals attacks on Palin and her daughter causing a backlash among women who have found themselves in similar situations in their own lives. This is dirty politics and it is stupid politics on the part of the Obama shadow campaign.

BTW, Barack Obama has declared the young Miss Palin off limits and says that he will fire anybody on his staff found to have been responsible for spreading any rumors. No mention of the smears that continue unabated among Obama's supporters at the Daily Kos.

The Daily Kos hosted a Democratic presidential debate at its YearlyKos convention. Hillary supporters were for practical purposes hounded off the website months ago. The Daily Kos is a very important organization of Obama supporters and it would have been very appropriate for Obama to have condemned the smears that have been appearing on the group's web site.

 

The truth is, Obama does not want the Daily Kos, the Democratic Underground, MoveOn.org, or Media Matters to show any restraint in spreading rumors about McCain and Palin, whether the rumors are true or not. Obama and Biden are counting on the smears to continue while the official Obama campaign expresses outrage at the rumors without calling out the responsible parties.

 

This sorry episode in presidential politics exemplifies my main complaint about John McCain. The McCain-Feingold Act gave birth to these "non-profit" groups and they are officially not accountable to anybody - and Obama wouldn't have it any other way.

Most of us do. However, the websites that are smearing Palin are financed by wealthy Obama supporters and facts are an afterthought for them. I recall John McCain condemning the Swift Boat attacks against John Kerry during the 2004 campaign. Do you?

If I know the origin of the rumors, Obama knows. This is no different than when any other surrogate or high profile supporter of a campaign crosses the line.

 

If Obama was serious about having his supporters to stop the smears, then he would have mentioned Alan Colmes, the DailyKos, and the Democratic Underground by name. Instead, he made sure that the issue got more coverage by issuing a meaningless public statement about firing people who he already knows cannot be tied directly to the smears.
