Game was scoreless at the half. GRC came out the second half and took care of business. Way to go CARDS.:thumb:

Competitive game. Midway through the 4th it could have gone either way.

 

Ryan Williams is a great back. MC had nice drives just did not get it in the endzone.

 

Good luck to both squads the rest of the way.

Clark county played better than I expected. Ryan Williams was a stud as expected.

The play calling was improved over the last few years. The passing game was 100% improved which maybe makes me think the Quarterback situation will be ok if Dini can continue to lead as a sophomore,he had an excellent game.

Another suprise was Darius Skinner. He had two at least two excellent defensive stops on pass plays that resulted in a fourth and long and an interception for him. Hope he keeps his grades up so he can improve as the year goes on.

All in all the Cards looked good but the real test comes against tougher opponents. Worth mentioning, hope Josh Webb is fine, he has grown and will be a defender to be reckoned with due to his size and strength. The number of past players in the stand was a suprise too. If Columbia could get them on the field he would have a powerful team!

Wow, #21 Williams is a force to be reckoned with. He spots his holes and keeps his feet going even when it looks like there is no way out for him, he manages to find his way thru to the endzone.

Darius DID do very well in the game. He definately plays hard and is a great asset to the team. I see it was mentioned about his grades. I hope he can keep them up as well. Does this football team have mandatory study halls with tutors there to help the players??

Dini on the other hand I have to disagree with. As long as his line keeps doing the great job they are doing, he looks good. As long as he can stay in the pocket and can throw he will be an asset to GRC. But he can NOT scramble at all. Under pressure he panics, hence the interception on the goal line. Plus this QB can not take a hit at all. If Clark Co can keep him in his pocket he will be an OK QB for the team.

Webb, Hisle and Cambell also did a great job last night. Was Webb injured? I thought it was just a charlie horse???

I heard it was PACKED.

Very packed tight attendance with crazy student sections going wild, very nice atmosphere.

 

Was it just me but didn't GRC look very small in size, overall. I didn't see anyone that looked taller than 5'10.

I can name a few "pocket Quarterbacks" who were very successful and were not able to scramble much. Tom Brady comes to mind and Bret the jet. Clark had a scrambling quarterback the last two years and we all know how that turned out. Give Dini a chance, he is very smart and will learn his game with experience.

Williams had a great game. Clark had much better field position all night. I'm not sure how the o-line will hold up against 6A teams. Montgomery had a few players play very well but other players on the field didn't get the job done. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few position changes. Montgomery needs to come together as a team this week and focus on beating East Jessamine. But congrats to Clark County, and Good Luck this season.

I agree. Not fair to judge a kid on his first time out at the varsity level. He is just a Sophomore and his first game was with rivals Montgomery Co in front of a huge crowd. I can only see him getting better and more comfortable each week.:thumb:

Ummm he is a sophmore that started his first varsity game. He has the physical tools to do extremely well in the future for this team and the teammates to do it. By the way he is 6'1 with 3 more years of growing.

GRC was 0 for 4 in the red zone in the first half. Indians played good on defense, running the ball and special teams, they just need to get the passing game going.

Did Hackworth get injured? Seems MC went away from him in the second half and he was having one heck of a game. Williams had an outstanding game (anyone know his yardage total?), but I was impressed with Hackworth running him down from behind on several plays. I really felt Columbia kept the Cardinals out of the endzone more than the MC defense did. He had some poor playcalling inside the red zone.

Hackworth did start limping and came out in the second half. Not sure how many plays he missed and I don't know whether he came back in or not. Along with Darnell he is probably the Indians best player.
