Campbell Co. 31 Tates Creek 14

Featured Replies

Congrats to the Camels.

How did Grant Rose do?

Grant was injured in the first half and did not play the 2nd half. I believe it was a leg injury. Hoping it is not too serious. Austin Johnson ran the ball well after Grant was hurt.

You know it might take Mike Harmon a year or two, but I think he'll be very successful at Tates Creek. How did the Creekers look throwing the ball? (That's a sentence I've never typed!)

Campbell County thumps Tates Creek

Fairy-tale scripts would have had Coach Mike Harmon make a victorious return to his alma mater.

It would have had him leaving the Tates Creek field atop his new players' shoulder pads after a season-opening victory.

But Campbell County made sure the former All-City lineman didn't get his happy ending by jumping on Creek early and winning 31-14.

Getting the early 14-0 lead at the half and 24-0 lead by midway through the third quarter was key, Coach Troy Styer said.

"Any time you've got a coaching change, they're going to come out real excited and we had to put it on them early to take away some of their energy," he said.

Quarterback Andrew Eshman led the way, throwing three touchdowns and completing 10 of his 17 attempts for 131 yards.

I watched this game, as you would expect Tates Creek had several miss fires early but their passing game was taking shape later in the game.

They are young and marching to a new game plan, But they were sure fun to watch and I think the Commodores will be around much sooner than a lot of people expect. They have some sophomores who are amazing Jonathon Meadors leading the defene and Jontez Jones another sophomore standing tall in the back field.

Harmon has the right people on the bus, when he gets them in the right seats Tates Creek will have a Sun Shinny Day.

I thought that TC would win this game. Is CC expected to have a good season this year?

I couldn't agree with you more. This is a young team with a new system and it will take a little time, but Harmon is an excellent coach and will get the ball rolling! It definately was a fun game to watch (even without a win), and there were some good things happening on the field for the Creekers.

For what's it worth, Campbell played CovCath very close in a scrimmage. I expect them to be very competitive in the NKY 6A district.

I think its time Campbell Co and Highlands got back to scheduling one another. I would much rather see the Camels on the schedule in 09-10 then Ryle two times.

Congrats to the Camels as they seem to be rebuilding that program into a contender.

The Camels are fotunate to have a bye already this coming week, I have heard they came out of this game a little banged up. Rose the tailback had somekind of shin injury, and fullback Sampson dislocatesd an elbow which they popped back in on the sidelines. Hopefully these guys are ready in two weeks for the distrct games to begin.

I guess that the KY Enquirer sport's reporters don't think so. They didn't even make a prediction on this game in their weekly (Thursday) review.

The Camels are playing very passionate (Team) football right now.

I was very impressed with the speed of TC's QB. If you don't contain him, you won't catch him. Once he develops confidence in his passing game, he will be unstoppable.

One final note, the players for TC were good sportsmen. One of their players (#30 - RB)came over to the Camel bench to check on an injured player post-game. Classy!

I am sure the Camel leadership is just waiting for the opportunities to accomidate the desires of the Ft. Thomas program.

I think it was the Highlands program that stiffed armed the Camels schedule in years past - twice. No need to go down that road for a third time for quite awhile.

Sounds like Campbell may be on the verge of a major year. Great job Coach Styer.
