Out of everyone on the list I think Pittman has the most upside, but I think that's a pretty good list as well. I probably wouldn't put Speed on there either though. Good player... love his hustle... but not top ten.

Housley is not a top 10 player. He is not a team player at all and Holmes will find that out and he won't even come in as a 6th man. He and his mom are all about him.

 

I apologize if I sound a little bitter, but this is one of the best things to happen to the Newport Basketball program.

 

Housley also didn't have the same kind of help at Newport that he'll have at Holmes so he HAD to do more whereas at Holmes he can just let the game come to him since there is so much talent surrounding him.

I really like Holmes lineup this year, talent wise they are very good, but what amazed me last year was their discipline and ability to play together. I honestly think Holmes lineup when they had Rice, Hill, Jefferson, Henderson, Edmunson(sp), was more talented, but this years team just plays together so well and thats what their previous team didnt do.

As much as some don't realize it, Jefferson, Hill, and Rice should receive a lot of credit for last year's teams success.

 

Their senior year they finally realized that winning was more important than the numbers they put up and they made it to the state semi's which set the stage for last year's teams run led by Henderson and Avery.

 

This year's seniors, Riley and D. Johnson, have been apart of the past two senior laden teams so they know what it takes to win. It also helps that Pittman and the Johnson bros. are also much more mature at this stage than the Hill, Jefferson, and Rice group were.

Lol... Wow just a little biased? I didn't mean to offend you. I'm sorry the games I watched of Highlands last year I didn't remember seeing him start. Particularly the NewCath game at the beginning of the year, and the Regional game at Conner. Now I could be wrong, and if so I'm sorry, but he didn't stand out to me at all as a top ten player. I have no doubt that he may be a very fine player. All I was saying is that I didn't think as of now he had proved himself as a top ten player.... I'm very sorry again for ruffling your feathers.

I don't think Dom Johnson is related to the other two, but I agree you'll be hearing the last name Johnson a lot this year between those three.

Kowolonek is a top 10 player right now IMO. As good as he was last year, he's improved and worked on his game even more over the summer. The kid really has a great work ethic. I look forward to seeing him this upcoming season.

I tend to agree with you. I'd have Gabbard or Popp at the #10 spot over Speed.

 

I wouldn't move JJ down though. If you compare him to the players below him, he certainly is a much more athletic player and has more D1 potential than those. You have to remember he was relied on last year to defend..not score. Different story this year.

 

Something to be noted...Housley is ranked the 6th best player in nky, but won't even start for Holmes.

Romes is a nice player but I'd still take Gabbard or Popp over him. I'd even take Riley of Holmes over Romes. All three of those PG's IMO are not only tops in NKY but could also start at a lot of schools around the state.

Cotton from Boone can also get up, but he is probably at least a couple of inches taller. Flannery, Popp, and Gabbard are all fine players, and it was hard to get them all on the floor together because Krohman shot so well early in the season.
