Yes, I believe that the Yanks are done for this season. I do look for them to be back in the hunt next season. They will not be down for long. The Yankees have been hit with a large amount of injuries to key people and of course the Clemens fiasco hurt them as well in not having him. Many critisize and hate the Yanks for going out and spending te $$$$ to get players. They certainly have done that and what few don't say or maybe don't realize is that a main portion of their dynasty over these past years came from within. Yes, they added players they needed but guys like Jeter, Posada, B. Williams and I believe Petite came from within the Yankee system. These guys were the core of the Yankees. I don't know what kind of shape the farm system is in now but I would say that there are somemore players to come and of course, they (Yankees) will go out and trade, buy an deal for what they want and need. Other teams could do this but choose not to rather to sit and cry about the Yankees. The BoSox finally started spending some bucks and they have built a very good team.

 

Anyway, this is one Yankee fan that says yes, they are done as for this season but enjoy it. The "Pride,Power and Pinstripes" will be back much sooner rather than later.

I wouldn't count them out yet, they have 6 games left with the Rays in just the next 10 days. The Rays also play Boston quite a bit before the end of the season. They certainly face an uphill battle, but the Rays schedule is brutal this last month.

The Rays have 27 games left this season, if they go 13-14 the rest of the way they'll finish with 97 wins. The Red Sox have 26 games left this season, if they go 13-13 (and 17 of those 26 are at Fenway) they'll finish 92-70. It's very likely that both teams can play .500 ball the rest of the way. If that happens the Yankees would have to go 25-1 to catch the Rays and 20-6 to catch the Red Sox. That's not even taking into account the White Sox and Twins. The Yankees aren't officially eliminated but it would take the collapse of at least 2 teams coupled with a huge hot streak to get in.
