That's great, the 600 bucks stimulus package when a long way in helping bring down my $3,000 credit card debt, but unfortunately it did little to help the economy and my current state as a middle class citizen.

 

I know this is a little off topic, but there are several websites out there devoted to helping people work their way out of credit card debt. Dave Ramsey comes to mind. If you want a link I will be glad to PM it to you.

These all sound great in theory, but unfortunately when rich people get tax cuts, they still don't spend anymore and simply get richer so the money doesn't "trickle down." Just look at the massive debt the past 3 republican presidents has left this country in. Look at the state of the economy now. I just don't see it working out for anyone other than the rich. And, no, Bush has not helped out middle class families. Do you ever read the paper or watch T.V?

I am not worried about the rich spending more. In fact, having it in the bank may even be better for the economy. Check this article out

 

The reason that the past 3 Republican presidents have left the country in debt is because of out-of-control spending-which they deserve to be harshly criticized for-not because of tax cuts. The alternative that the most recent Democrat has enacted crippled our military. I don't know which is better. I'd rather more transparency in government, and even though many disagree with me, I'd like a line-item veto.

 

To be honest, I don't read the paper much or watch TV- between school, work, and BGP (:lol:) I don't have much time. But I live in a middle-class family, am friends with many middle-class families, and of course read plenty of news articles on the internet. If you are blaming the current state of the economy on Bush's tax cuts, then you need to take a basic Economics course. It doesn't make sense.

It's time for a few of the Pauls to begin paying their fair share of taxes. Having more than half of this nation's adult population paying less than three percent of the total federal income tax bill while Democrats pledge to reduce their burdern even further is ridiculous and grossly unfair.

Do you have a link to back up your 90 percent claim? I agree that number seems ridiculously high and I do not believe that it is true.

 

What is true is the following:

 

The top 1 percent of all households got 18 percent of all personal income and paid nearly 28 percent of all federal taxes in 2005, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The top 1 percent now pay a significantly larger share of taxes than before President Bush's tax cuts, and also have a larger share of income.

 

Mixing wealth numbers and income numbers is misleading because the wealthy also pay a large share of property taxes and other taxes in this country. If you add everything up, we have a very progressive tax system in this country.

The bottom 50 percent of wage earners pay very little federal income taxes and provide very few jobs in our economy. They should be thankful, not jealous, of the top one-percent and they should be more concerned with building their own wealth instead of scheming how to take somebody else's.

People from around the world have landed on our shores broke and without even speaking our language and have managed to become multi-millionaires and even billionaires in some cases.

 

It is time that native born Americans who speak English and are capable of success start acting like it and stop demanding other people's money for doing nothing.
