On a world class level.....you just don't stand still, you have got to help take the upper half of the goal away at that close of a distance. To these players, it's almost like shooting fish in a barrel.

49-37 over China at halftime. They look pretty good on offense accept for the fact that they aren't shooting the three ball very well at all, but driving and fast break is solid as always.

 

The need to sit down and just play defense. Gotta quit letting the much weaker Chinese guards penetrate the lane and kick it out to their three point shooters. If I was Coach K, I would have a serious defensive talk at halftime. If they covered the shooters better this game would be a blow out already.

That was an awesome moment that they just showed of the Georgia athlete hugging the Russian athlete on the medal podium.

Definitely...as was Dwayne Wade who seemed to play very well in this game too. I like what Bosh brought to the game as well with a lot of rebounds and playing hard. Good start for the USA.

They aren't a bad team, but Team USA had another gear left and finally shifted to it in the 3rd quarter. Also, shooting that well from the 3-point line can make a lesser team look really good :thumb:

American men's soccer team scores 2-2 draw with Dutch

TIANJIN — One minute away from one of the biggest wins any U.S. soccer team has recorded, the American men gave up a tying goal and settled for a 2-2 draw Sunday against the Netherlands.

 

 

RESULTS: USA 2, Netherlands 2

 

 

A win would have clinched a quarterfinal berth for the USA. The team still leads Group B but needs either a draw Wednesday against Nigeria or help from Japan to advance.

 

The USA left disappointed with the finish, but proud of staring down a team riddled with top European club players. The USA held its own behind a composed finish from Sacha Kljestan, powerful overlapping runs from left back Michael Orozco, a go-ahead goal from dangerous substitute Jozy Altidore and a brilliant performance by Freddy Adu.

 

"Before this game, I don't think there's anybody who gives us a chance to play like we did tonight versus the European champions," said coach Peter Nowak, referring to the Netherlands' win in the 2007 Under-21 tournament that doubled as the Olympic qualifier.

I must say that it is definitely promising for the future of our international team to know that our young guys can play with some of the best in the world as they proved this morning. Just stinks they couldn't pull out the victory.

You, me, and another 1.6 billion Chinese will be doing the same I am sure. I like the small stories they did today about how much the Chinese people love our NBA stars like Kobe Bryant.

Did anyone see Kobe walking down the stands getting mobbed by all the Chinese fans before the game, I am curious as to why that happened? I realize no harm was done but how can they let that happen, just seemed strange.

You are right Latch...that wasn't from the Men's game tonight...that was from the Women's game the day before. But, even then its still kinda suprising that he would enter the gym that why, kinda cool at the same time though. He's like a God to them.
