August 10, 200818 yr I've benefited financially because of the tax cuts and so has the rest of my family. It's going to suck knowing that next year at this time my taxes may be quite a bit higher. There's more to it than that. Your personal share of the national debt has increased by $30,000 over the past seven years, and so it has for every person in your family. Unless you're in the top 1% or 2% of income earners, you have not benefitted overall from the tax cuts. They were just put on the country's credit card.
August 10, 200818 yr http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/w/ Looks like a pretty strong cast. You can't tell too much from the trailer, so what direction do you guys think Stone will go with this movie? Left. It's the only direction Stone knows.
August 10, 200818 yr Stone had a chance to really make a statement with his 9/11 movie, he blew it and I'm sure this will blow chunks as well. With that said, I do love Elizabeth Banks.
October 17, 200817 yr There's more to it than that. Your personal share of the national debt has increased by $30,000 over the past seven years, and so it has for every person in your family. Unless you're in the top 1% or 2% of income earners, you have not benefitted overall from the tax cuts. They were just put on the country's credit card. Thank you. All these rebates or incentives have only increased the deficit and eventually someone will have to pay for all of it. The next president will have his hands somewhat tied because of the mess Bush has made.
October 17, 200817 yr If nothing else, it will be terribly goofy. Anyone who saw Alexander knows what Stone is capable of, even with a good story. What was the last good one he made... JFK? The story of the President's ascent to where he was in 2000 is a spectacular one. He turned from a shiftless failure to a driven, dedicated leader in a pretty short amount of time. It's the kind of amazing story that... I'd like to read about... in a book... not see in a movie by Oliver "Hype Over Substance" Stone.
October 17, 200817 yr Author What was the last good one he made... JFK? Any Given Sunday. Was Nixon any good? I haven't seen it.
October 26, 200817 yr Another conservative-bashing political docu-drama, another box office flop. 'High School Musical 3' Dances Past Rivals To Worldwide #1 And $82 Mil Opening! 'Saw' Top Grossing Horror Franchise Ever; Oliver's Biopic 'W.' Drops Like A Stone There's been tremendous interest by the public in the box office fate of Oliver Stone's W. for its second weekend in release. Well, it ran out of steam. QED International/Lionsgate's Bush biopic sank 58% to No. 7 with a $5.3M weekend from 2,050 dates and new cume of $18.7M. The $30M negative cost film should end up with $23M domestic box office gross by the end of its North American run. That means, with a $25M P&A investment and Lionsgate's distribution fees, the film won't recoup.
October 27, 200817 yr Any Given Sunday. Was Nixon any good? I haven't seen it. I thought Nixon was his best one however, he took more ceative liberties than he did in JFK. It was a good film as long as you dont take it as historical fact. It seemed like he was trying to insinuate that Nixon knew about the Kennedy assassination and was involved with gangsters who killed him.
October 27, 200817 yr It's not the movie it's the topic. I've watched it live for 8 years why in the heck would I want to watch a rerun.
