August 8, 200818 yr It depends on what your definition of "hitter" is. If you mean, the best at actually getting hits, then he's pretty good. If you mean all around hitting, I would probably take someone with a little more slugging percentage and RBI's. He is the best at getting singles.

Now if the question was "Who would you rather have?" that would be an interesting argument, because Ichiro is a more valuable defender and is injured less. But it has to be Pujols from the numbers.

August 8, 200818 yr I would put my money on Rose of the Reds. Rose played when the pitching from top to bottom (IMO) was much better. He also played for winning teams which meant he couldn't just hit the ball for himself but did it for the team as well. He almost pulled off one of the records that I don't think will be broken in MLB and that is the 46 straight hitting streak record. Rose did it everyday for many, many years and did it under the glare and constant lights of the media! Rose, lousy person, great baseball player!
August 8, 200818 yr Someone on his team this year at the All-Star game said he COULD be a power hitter if he wanted to jusy going on his raw power. Fast, great defense, great arm, hits for an amazing average and gets tons of hits and has a very hight on base percentage, and can hit the ball out of the park if needed.
