I'm afraid that you took my comments as jabs at Russell, when in fact, they were quite the opposite. I am confident that Russell will have a good team. I am confident that the offensive line will be good. And I am confident that the backfield will be good as well.

 

I was only saying that the reason that Russell was not ranked higher was do to the fact that they graduated a good deal of talented players, and will miss Bates being at 100% for the first part of the season.

 

I stand my the my statement that I doubt there are very many teams in the state ranked as high as Russell with the number of returning starters that Russell has back. Again, a backhanded compliment to Russell.

Paducah Tilghman definately deserves to be in that list and their returnign experience coupled with how well they played Lou. Central in the semi's would suggest they be ranked ahead of the Devils. Based on returning experience and last years playoffs it is very difficult to make a case for Russell anywhere better than 5th IMO. I can't see anythignt angible suggesting Russell be ahead of these teams:

 

Central- Defending Champs, 5 D-1 Players

 

Belfry- Runner-Ups, dominated 3A besides Central

 

PT- Lost to Central on last second field goal, return nearly everyone

 

Breathitt- Eliminated Red Devils at Russell..return just as much if not more

 

Mason County over Russell is definately debatable, as is Sheldon Clark over Russell.... but I honestly can not see justifying Russell at 3 or 4.

:thumb:Yep I think people will be shocked that really have no clue what Mason has coming in will look like.Most of the non Mason Contains that just assume the Royals will be no good because they Lost Richie Cox.I'm not saying that Royals will be top 4 to start the season but they will surprise many.

Well said EKU. I would say that there is not many other teams in the state ranked as high as Russell with the returning starters they have. I would take it as a compliment to Russell's program for them to be ranked in the top 10 with a whole new backfield starting the season and only one offensive lineman returning.

 

Drew Abrams is returning in the backfield. Adam Bates also got alot of carries an PT last year. Drew however will be the RB returning with the most experience and I look for him to have a big year in the Wing T. He is a VERY strong kid who loves to lift, lift, and lift some more. He was probably the most instrumental player in the success that Russell had this year in the state weightlifting competition.

IMO, Wayne County and Fleming County are too low, the rest look pretty good.

The only back they lost has been Bates. Will Rice will be filling that position. I hate to lose Bates, but Rice is just as good, or an improvment at the Fullback spot. As he is more a true FB type runner and better blocker for that position. I wish Bates was able to play this year, however, he's not. We have to look at the benefits Rice brings to the offense at FB.

Russell will be ranked in the top 3 by the end of the season.
