August 6, 200818 yr Ace, how does the preacher feel about "Eternal Fire?" God who describes Godself as the epitome of love and mercy would not "punish" someone eternally for a mistake made in a mere lifetime. Might that person be annihilated? Possibly. Punished and made to suffer eternally? Not a picture of a merciful God. August 6, 200818 yr I agree with almost everything said in post #1. However, when it comes to politics and religion, I have never seen anyone change their minds and come to a conclusion unless it is to "agree to disagree."
August 6, 200818 yr Haven't had time to check them out, but I will in the mean time....Luke 16:19 is where I'll start. This is not a parable. Why would you say this is not a parable? Looks and acts and is written like the ones right before it. Most every Biblical scholar I have read refer to this as a parable. I mean if you want to use this to prop up the concept of torment then that's fine by me but I don't think you can call it a literal event with any biblical evidence.

None, here you have Jesus talking about a major player in the life of the Old testament. Abraham. Explain that, no where else is names used. Lazerus is the second name used, the rich man had brothers on earth, where they real or was Jesus making them up? Rich guy wants to go back and save them. Sorry I made the statement because I was making a point about Hell. I'll try to keep my think so's out of here and let the scriptures speak. But Hatz, I wanna hear your rebuttel to my point.
