July 31, 200818 yr Right. I'm a fan of his, always have been. He may be the best all around ever, but it actually pains me to see him play now. Once again, I totally agree!:thumb:
July 31, 200818 yr This lineup gets a whole lot better with him NOT in the 3 hole. How you figure that? The only guys on the team producing more than Griffey are Dunn and Phillips...Neither of them is a 3 hole guy.

July 31, 200818 yr A guy with over 600 career HRs, one of the best defensive OF of all-time and he's not a very good ballplayer? If .245 with 15 HR's and 53 RBI's is your definition of a good ballplayer, that's your problem.
July 31, 200818 yr I'm not really sure. They could also put Jr. in the OF, and move Swisher to 1B. According to the Chicago sites, they are looking at Swisher to 1st and platoon Griffey and Brian Anderson in CF. He could be the lefty DH, but his numbers and on base percentage are lower than Thome's. One writer said he hoped the Sox were just a temporary home for Griffey and that Williams has another deal in place to trade for pitching.

I'm not sure he can patrol centerfield at a decent size park anymore, at least affectively. Possibly alternating CF/DH every other day...
July 31, 200818 yr If over 600 HRs is your definition of a bad ballplayer, I'd love to see what you think a good one is. What does that have to do with anything? Has he hit 600 HR's this season? I actually even said he's one of, if not the best ever. He stinks right now, no matter what he did in the past. Would you still consider Babe Ruth a good ballplayer? If so, I'm sure Steinbrenner will be looking to bring him back.

He's more productive than all but 2 guys on the team....So everyone on the Reds sucks than, correct?
July 31, 200818 yr If over 600 HRs is your definition of a bad ballplayer, I'd love to see what you think a good one is. Look, there's nothing wrong with being a Grif homer. But if you think for one second he's a shadow of what he was 10 yrs. ago, then perhaps you should step outside yourself and truly evaluate him on this season alone. You don't even have to compare his #'s the past few seasons. If you are a Reds fan, knowing he's out the door at the end of the season, which by the way is in the toilet, how can you not be pleased with this trade?
July 31, 200818 yr Reds need to move on regardless if he says yes or no, but Dusty won't let that happen.

And yes, I know he's not near what he used to be, but he's still more productive than 90% of the team.
July 31, 200818 yr I'm not.... And yes, I know he's not near what he used to be, but he's still more productive than 90% of the team. I know..... And I would disagree with your 90% assessment. Not to mention, he's in the 3 hole with those #'s and he has been murder defensively of late.
July 31, 200818 yr He's more productive than all but 2 guys on the team....So everyone on the Reds sucks than, correct? What part of 51-58 makes them good? At their age, it's not fair to compare him to guys like Bruce, Keppinger and Votto. But, whatever it takes to make you think this would be a bad thing is fine by me...
July 31, 200818 yr When you have to look up to see the stinkin' Pirates, how much worse can it be? Cut bait......
