July 31, 200818 yr They have been scouting the Rangers quite a bit, but it doesn't seem to have taken on much life yet outside of that. The C they are looking at seems to be Laird and not Salty... I did see that on the Rangers website. All though Laird hits for a very good average, Salty just turned 23 I believe, and is a switch hitter. Laird will be 30 soon, if I had my choice, Salty would be my guy. http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080730&content_id=3227317&vkey=news_tex&fext=.jsp&c_id=tex
July 31, 200818 yr If im keeping a hitter that hits from .230 to .260, then i'll take one that hits a ton of homers. the Reds have a lot of hitters that hit in this range that i'd get rid of before Dunn.
July 31, 200818 yr He had one "decent" year at best. I'd rather the Reds not sign Dunn and take the draft picks than to make this deal. They may not get the picks. If Dunn doesn't get serious long term offers he would be crazy not to take the $15M or more he would get in arbitration.
July 31, 200818 yr If Jr. is gone, I think they keep Dunn. That's my thought too. Unless they get a whole lot for Dunn.
July 31, 200818 yr I am not a huge Dunn fan, but he is too productive to trade for a bag of peanuts. However, by not trading him you take the risk of getting nothing for him. The odds of him resigning here don't seem too good for me.
July 31, 200818 yr Everybody is saying the Rays have a lot of minor league talent but it looks like they are refusing to part with any of it.
