Championship Built on Transfers. Is This Honorable?

Featured Replies

I am not trading in anything. Someone said on here that Home Grown talent was kids that came in the lower grades and not a transfer during High school. Barner was the only one like that. King transferred before high school. How is Middleton not home grown. His dad lived in Mason Co all his life, graduated from Mason, went to Georgetown and coached at other schools. Got an Superintendent job at Mason well before high school. If that is not home grown talent what is???? When Mason, Clark, Warren Central, Hazard or who ever plays either Lex Cath of Scott CO in the State tourney, 90 percent is rooting against Cath or Scott.

Okay, whatever fits your own description. So, now we're debating when the transfer is okay. So, if my 4th grader(6th grader, 8th grader) shows tremendous basketball promise and I decide to transfer to Scott Co., or Mason Co., then that doesn't count? Wow.

So, if you only have one it's okay? I just don't get it. We only have one transfer and that's why folks were rooting for us? You folks crack me up!

So, is Mason's championship (with one little ole' transfer during his high school eligibility) honorable?

All I can say is perhaps the static in my hair has clouded my judgement, but where is the dishonor in Mason's title? I say that there is none. But I would hope that the Royal faithful don't think for one second that they have no transfers.

Only in America, baby!

We've been in agreement so much the last few weeks I may start my own Homer Bailey thread...

I would say great minds think alike, but we couldn't convince anyone of that.:D Don't start a Homer thread, Bandit would ruin that parade!

The transfers occur all over the state. Scott co. has been specifically mentioned in this thread, but there are transfers occuring everywhere. I know there has to be some control I suppose (not sure how it should be done), but to rule kids ineligible to play, IMO, only hurts KY basketball. Better competition only improves the over all quality of KY basketball. And, KY IS the basketball capital of the WORLD. Where else is there a basketball goal in virturally every backyard!!!!! Speaking of HONOR, it's all relative.

Rule #13

In 2007 Brossart (Enrollment 425) won the A State Championship with its top six players all coming from the same grade school which is located 400 yards away. Five of those players played together from the 1st grade on. It certainly was a lot of fun to see that group of kids reach their ultimate high school basketball goal at McBrayer Arena! Winning a Championship with transfers or not is honorable in my opinion, however watching the 2007 Brossart team win the All A was special. :thumb:
