Barry Bonds: Collusion?

Featured Replies

Apparently they have found evidence that teams colluded not to sign Barry Bonds, but the MLBPA is going to delay filing a grievance.

Beautiful...

Maybe he will be able take even more money to prison with him.:lol::lol:

I don't see how anyone could say Bonds would be a "force" in the lineup..How do you know, he wasn't in anyone's spring training, he worked out at home, and he hasn't played since last season. He's a distraction.

I'm sorry, but you don't hit 762 career home runs unless you are a "force" in the lineup.

Griffey Jr. has hit over 600 homeruns. Is he still a force in the lineup?

How about Babe Ruth?:p

Unfortunately for him, it won't be enough to keep him from being someones "lady friend"...

Apples vs. Oranges

Bonds would have 900 home runs if he weren't intentionally walked the majority of the last decade.

I have said all season long it was collusion. Hypocrisy of baseball at its finest.

Why would a team want to give a contract to somone who faced a very good chance of going to prison?

Griffey Jr. may have hit 1,000 homeruns if he had taken the same route Bonds did.

Clarification: Are you defending Bonds or just making a statement?

I guess he wasted his opportunity.

What would you chose Wireman if you had the opportunity?

Take steroids so you could become the All Time Home Run King, or not take any performance enhancing drugs, still hit over 600 Home Runs, be a sure fire 1st ballot Hall of Famer, and still be able have self respect, and the respect of your peers?

Bonds might be the biggest drama queen and jerk to come along in some time. I will never defend the drugs he has taken or the way he acts to the media. But, I will defend Bonds in the sense he was a lot better than many DHs or other players that stepped on the field this year yet he did not get a whif of MLB this season. The prison argument is a weak one in my book because it has been documented that he was not appearing in court for months after this season. IF Bonds ever goes to jail (isn't perjury very tough to prove), it is not going to be anytime soon.

Bottom line, they have painted Bonds as the face of the steroid era... beyond McGwire, Sosa, or any other cheater. They eliminate him, they eliminate a big stigma that they (MLB and owners) brought upon themselves. Again, hypocrisy at its finest.

It doesn't matter what I would choose.
