Im pretty sure Harang is 4th in the N.L. in strikeouts, while Volquez is 1st. . . It amazes me how much the Reds underachieve every year. . If they could only get everything together at the same time. . . It always seems like, at lease to me, that either their pitching is hot and their bats are cold, or they get hot at the plate but dont have the pitching to finish out games.

It isn't that their bats go cold. They can only score one way right now. Hit it out of the park. Bruce's avg is dropping rapidly. When he gets below .300 they will have no regular hitting above .300. It's no coincidence that they played well when Hairston and Bruce hit well for 2 weeks. It's hard to string 3 or 4 hits in a row when the highest avg for your 3-7 hitters is .265.

Even so... A lot of guys don't debut til around that age... (25)

Very true, and is one of the best if not the best defensive 2nd baseman around.

A record(3-10 for Harang) means very little, look at the ERA. But how in the world is BRandon not on this list. He is an all-star caliber player who seems to be the leader of the ball club, that is a mistake not putting him on there. Switch him and E-5 and good list. But that's not saying I don't see any upside in Edwin.

Harang's ERA isn't exactly steller this season like it has been in the past. I'm an in no way saying he's a bad pitcher though. He's just been roughed up a little this season and we are not used to that.

He has had plenty of time to get over that. You don't see that bothering Edison Volquez now do you? You might have an arguement if every game he has pitched since then has been bad but there has been atleast one good one.

The thing is instead of keeping his pitch count down he was left out there to throw 118 pitches against the Red Sox just when he seemed to have his stuff back. He needs to be given about 10 days off to see if that helps.

JMO but I would NOT have E5 on the untouchable list at all. Depending on what offers were out there for him I would consider moving him.

Bailey's troubles lie between his ears. Harang's situation is totally different--dismiss it if you want but he shows all the classic symptoms of a tired arm.

So b/c he had one good outing against a very good team, but one w/o their best two hitters he can't be tired from throwing 65 pitches in relief? Volquez is 24 and threw a lot less pitches. Harang is 30 and didn't look all that great before that outing.

He's a gamer. He's not going to ask to skip his turn unless he absolutely can't go. The frist start after the relief appearance he said postgame that he knew he wouldn't have good stuff. In fact after that game I would have been all for skipping him.

Yea your right it's not the best right now. But if you take out his last two starts or so (which I do realize you can't just "take them out") he has been the Ace he always was besides the wins.
