They did really well. Getting better and better each time out as Larkey has more and more time to work with them. They won their pool and got beat on the last play in the semifinals. IMHO they were clearly the best team down there and will continue to improve as they get more work. They improved 100times since the last time they were down at UNION. I see this team getting better with each week of work. People in Harlan County better get on board the Bear Train because this ride we are about to take could be something special.:dancingpa

Corbin, Knox Central, Lynn Camp, Middlesboro, Pineville, Cumberland Gap Tn, Harlan County A , And Harlan County B.

For them to be able to play with these teams and just basically getting started speaks very well for our guys.

Who beat them?

If betterment wasn't a word ..it is now! LLOL We have our own language in Harlan County anyhow. There's folks excited in every corner of the county! We all need to work together for the kids. They deserve it!

 

 

So Is Powell a go now? Is that another home game?

 

I heard the boys did really good today, 4-1. Somebody give us some details.

 

 

 

I heard 3-2 with a loss to KC on the last play of the scrimmage.

 

The Powell game should be in Stanton. It was at Cawood last year.

HDE, they only lost 1 game, they won their pool.

I was just going on what I heard — Knox Central once in pool play and once in the tournament. I could have gotten it confused with the JV group, which was also playing.

Knox Central was not in Harlan County's starting groups pool. Harlan County's JV group was. Harlan County went 3-0 in their pool beating Middlesboro, Cumberland Gap, TN and Lynn Camp. They then played Knox Central in the Semi's and lost on the last play of the game which should have never been counted. The QB from Knox Central was clearly 4 or 5 yards past the line of scrimmage but it was not called. Harlan County's coaches did not protest it and I really didn't blame them after all it is only a passing scrimmage. The real deal starts in Aug. I was very impressed with the Black Bears and I did feel that they were the best team down there. Give Larkey and staff another month with this bunch and Harlan County could have something special. This bunch has already made great strides since the first time they went to Union.

Can you give us any details? What players stood out, etc?

I am not familiar with name's but it seemed that thier timing was MUCH better than it was the last time they were at Union. Also their defense had really improved. The thing that I noticed the most is how the kids were interacting with each other and cutting up with each other. They were just having a great time. It just goes to show that these kids can help bring a county together. I enjoyed watching that more than I did watching them play.

That is really good to hear.

 

What about team speed? Did we seem to match up with everyone pretty well?

When will they do this again and are they going to camp? I had heard that they were going. It'd be interesting to see which teams will be there.

 

Man, I'm pumped to see them play.

In my opinion we had the best overall team speed than anyone down there. I am not just saying that because I am a Black Bear fan but I really believe that.
