May 17, 200818 yr Tell me how Clinton's actions hurt the average (or above average American, if you are insulted to be included in "average") American? Did it cost the taxpayers billions of dollars? Did it cause people to lose their lives because of it's lack of planning, reluctance to wait for all the facts to be in? Cause the destabilazation of the economy? Create a need to prop up a foreign nation for generations to come? Cause grief to come to the families of those killed? FWIW, please don't cite the economy when talking about Clinton, because he was the beneficiary of economic fortune. And I don't touch the rest of what you are talking about.
May 17, 200818 yr I wish that Clinton had been impeached for a more serious transgression, but the nation's president cannot be allowed to commit perjury. Why again was he put into a position to perjure himself? Hypocritical moral outrage, wasn't it?
May 17, 200818 yr Bush did what he thought would make him look powerful. A president concerned about doing the right thing for his country at the time would have been much more cautious and waited for all the facts before bombing the hell out of Baghdad. He did indeed. It is very apparent that doing what is best for the American people was NOT his foremost concern. Even those who would never admit it know that what you said is correct. Bush's motives were clearly selfish.
May 17, 200818 yr :thumb: Very few of us who do not own our own business could have been caught engaging in the activities in which Bill Clinton engaged in his employers' place of business and not lost our job. For me, and for many others, the same sort of behvior would have cost us both our jobs and our marriages. I wish that Clinton had been impeached for a more serious transgression, but the nation's president cannot be allowed to commit perjury. That being said, Clinton did half the damage to this country in two terms that Jimmy Carter did in one term. Gore, Kerry, and Obama have been far worse candidates than Bill Clinton. Maybe liberal Democrats can convince Bernie Sanders to move to the left and run for president in 2012 as a Democrat if Obama loses this fall. You wish for a worse transgression? You mean, like something that would have done real damage to the country? I think we have seen much worse transgressions over the past 7 years.
May 17, 200818 yr FWIW, please don't cite the economy when talking about Clinton, because he was the beneficiary of economic fortune. And I don't touch the rest of what you are talking about. At who's feet do we lay the current state of the economy?
May 17, 200818 yr You wish for a worse transgression? You mean, like something that would have done real damage to the country? I think we have seen much worse transgressions over the past 7 years. No, I wished that Clinton would have grown into a more ethical and responsible public servant as president than he had been as Arkansas governor. Unfortunately, he decided to use his new office as a babe magnet, although he did so neither as effectively nor as discretely as JFK did. I mean, come on, Bill, as the most powerful man on Planet Earth was Monica really the best that you could do? As bitterly partisan as the current Democratic Congress has been, President Bush would have been impeached if allegations such as your's were anything more than partisan rhetoric. Bill Clinton engaged in illegal behavior that resulted in his impeachment and disbarment. Liberals have been greatly disappointed that their elected representatives have been unable to even make a single credible charge of criminal behavior against Bush but that is reality. The great thing about the current presidential campaign has been the realization by millions of Democrats that Bill and Hillary Clinton are just as dishonest and just as vindictive as millions of Republicans have known for more than a decade. Now, the question is how many Democrats will ignore the red flags flying in Obama's background come November and vote for another candidate with a stable of shady associations in his background? It is amazing that so many Democrats still defend Bill Clinton's criminal behavior. Actually I am not all that amazed because Democrats also seemed to shrug off the acquisition of 900+ confidential FBI files on Republicans and Clinton's use of the FBI and IRS to harrass personal and political enemies. Nixon had an enemies list, but the Clintons' list was an agenda full of action items.
May 17, 200818 yr At who's feet do we lay the current state of the economy?Bill Clinton vetoed a bill that would have allowed drilling in ANWR and high gas prices are fueling inflation and threatening us with a recession. Which party has fought against increased domestic oil production, nuclear power development, and the construction of new oil refineries? It takes energy to fuel an economy and Democrats are blocking the development of new energy sources (although McCain isn't helping much either).
May 17, 200818 yr Why again was he put into a position to perjure himself? Hypocritical moral outrage, wasn't it?Nobody made Bill Clinton commit perjury. That was his decision alone.

Bill and Hillary were all about selfish motives. They were, and are, a political machine who stop at nothing to achieve their political aspirations. If you want to know about the Clintons, just watch the movie that was made about them -- it's called Primary Colors.
