Highlands kicker Drew Bathiany will sign a full scholarship to play football at Division I Western Carolina University. The signing ceremony will take place at the school on May 9. He is the fourth Highlands player to announce plans to play on the major college level. The others are: Luke Stein (Gardner Webb), Clay Cecil (Kentucky) and Trey Jurgens (Murray State).

Including the guys going to the smaller programs, I believe the number is at least 10 playing in college.:thumb:

Kickers are generally the last position to recieve scholly offers from what I've learned from being on here.

He is going to UK. From what I understand, he received football offers from Wittenburg and Georgetown, but decided he really wanted to attend UK.

Congrats Drew, you will be missed and good luck at Western Carolina!!!

AND Congrats to Drew Simons...outstanding athlete who will also be sorely missed. Continued success off the field as you matriculate to Lexington!
