Former NFL GM: Woodson wronged

Featured Replies

On paper, this weekend's NFL Draft will go down as the most successful draft for the University of Kentucky in almost 20 years.

But it will also go down as perhaps the most puzzling.

Four Wildcats were selected on Sunday, marking the highest number of UK players drafted since 1989.

But the biggest news-maker was the perplexing slide of quarterback Andre Woodson. Woodson, who was once viewed as a first-round pick, slid all the way to the sixth round where he was selected by the New York Giants.

We will see. Hopefully in about five years we can look back and say he should of been drafted. However, I'm not sure he's in the best place right now.

If he wanted a chance to be a starter he is in the wrong place. Eli is young and entrenched as the starter for awhile in NY.

Probably a reason the guy is a former GM and not a current GM...

So you think all the QB's drafted before Woodson are better than Woodson?

Why is it so perplexing? The teams in need of a QB, all picked one in the first 2 rounds (save the Bears, who took none). He was bound to drop after that.

I understand him dropping some, but I don't understand some of the guys taken before him. Brennan? Are you serious?

Like I said, most everyone already has their "marquee QB." Any of the others brought in are just to make things interesting for reporters to right about during minicamps. What's a more interesting story: Andre Woodson who had a good season for an 8-5 team or Colt Brennan who set all kinds of records and led Hawai'i to their best season ever?

Kevin O'Connell, John David Booty, Dennis Dixon, Josh Johnson, Erik Ainge, Colt Brennan were all drafted ahead of Woodson. Out of those I think Booty might have been worthy of it, but I think Woodson is as good or better than the rest of those guys.

No team drafts a QB to "make things interesting for reporters to WRite about during minicamps". That is the most ridiculous theory I've heard.

Gee Whiz... Teams did not think he was worth the pick when they were up, until the G-Men picked him in the 6th round. Player's stock rise and fall every year.

If everyone had that frame of mind all the time we wouldn't have message boards. They are created for us to discuss things we disagree on. That is what we are doing here.

Bingo.

The Giants weren't even in need of a QB, at all, but felt he was too good to pass up. I would like to know where they had him rated amongst the other QBs in the draft.

He had a very good year. Lead the team to the victory over the National Champs. Played well against the Gators/Dogs/ and other SEC teams. Beat his biggest rival with a pass.

He really took at hit on this thing and all because some expert mentions a stupid "Hitch" and a bad senior Bowl game..one game.

One thing for the fans of Woodson is he can always be traded somewhere because Eli just won the SB and you saw how much Jared played the last two years. Even when Eli got in jured and they said he would miss the next game...didn't miss a snap. Jared also needs to go somewhere.
