Speeding Ticket Question

Featured Replies

I got pulled this morning for 68 in a 55, although the car the was next to me was passing by me like I was sitting still when the cop 'clocked' me going 68.

Anyhow, of course I got a ticket. He said he wrote it up as only 65 in a 55 so it wouldn't take any points off my license. When I got home, I was looking at the ticket and I noticed something odd. Usually, when you get a speeding ticket (yes, I have had a few), they will give you another sheet with the ticket with all the fees outlined that you have to pay according to how many mph you were over the limit. There is a court date on there, but the box for prepay is also checked giving me the option to pay the ticket (hopefully go to traffic school). I am a bit confused because I don't want to go to court, but there is nothing on there with how much it will cost to pay the ticket. Should I just take my ticket up to the courthouse and talk to someone about paying it.....or do I need to go to court?

Just go up to the courthouse and pay the Traffic School fee, you can go once a year.

Same thing happened to me a little over a year ago. I looked everywhere on the print-out for information, but it wasn't there. I just went to the court house and spoke with them. I ended up paying a fine and enjoying a night of traffic school, but no court date and no points.

That is what I figured. Lucky me, the last time I went to traffic school was in March of '07, so I should be good to go again this time around. You know, traffic school really isn't that bad.....not something I want to do all the time, but to stay out of court and not have any points off the license, I'll sit and space out for 3 or 4 hours on a Thursday night.

The traffic school instructor in Boyle Co. looks like Kenny Stabler. I've been tempted to go up to him and say 'What's up, Snake?'....but I don't think that would go over too well.

I go about every 13-14 months or so....you can almost set your watch by it!

I've been trying to figure out for a year who he looked like...THANKS! I've only been once, but traffic school wasn't that bad. Sort of a refresher on some things you don't often think about. I actually liked it!

I've been to Campbell County's traffic school a couple times over the past 10 years or so. I've had the same instructor both times and she at least attempts to make the class entertaining.

You can now do State Traffic School online.

I saw a DVD rental at Blockbuster for State Traffic School also.

My advice. Go to court, and plead not guilty. Very often they will drop a ticket of 10 mph or less, over the speed limit. Either way, I would always go to court. You can still pay the ticket, or go to traffic school at that time.

THANKS for the info . . . I'll file it away for future reference (since I seem to require this attendance sporadically :sssh: ).

I thought you could only attend traffic school once every 2 years. Good to know they've reduced the limitation.

Your vehicle isn't red is it ? I read somewhere that red cars stand out more and are pulled more often than any other color.
