Scott Co. Top 10 team in the nation next season?

Probably will be based on their projected D-I prospects. Should definitely dominate in KY.

Aren't Euton, Jackson and Guyn all sophomores?

If so, it is safe to say they will be ranked nationally at some point over the course of the next two seasons!

They are all sophomores this year, or juniors-to-be in basketball terms.

They have Phares, Guyn, Jackson, and obviously Euton all have D1 looks right now. I'm going to come out right now and say Manning likely ends up a D1 player, and from what I hear Ivey could very well end up at that level as well.

You do not think in the bottom 25 national top 25?

If they are in the bottom 25 nationally, then I stand by my post...not a top ten team nationally.

As for having sour grapes, I have none. Good luck to all of the kids. I will predict that if this team falls short of winning a State Championship then Hicks will have to bring in Dr. Phil to help manage the disappointment and heartache of career re-located parents.

They could be top 25 in the nation. I think they could possibly be about the same as the 07 title team. It would be hard to be better though. I think they have a long way to go to make the top 10 you saw what happended when they played the #1 team from Jersey, boy was it ugly.

VERY different team from last year.

Is it a done deal that Jackson will be eligible?

I don't guess it is a "done deal" or anything, but the kid changed residences and from what I understand has solid reasoning for the move. I dont think it will be too big of an issue.

Nothing is guaranteed with KHSAA, no parties involved are 100 percent sure of anything!

If the argument includes prep schools, I'm definitely selling.

Scott County may be nationally ranked at some points during the season, but there are probably 10 teams in the state of California, Texas, and/or Indiana who would beat Scott Co. consistently.

Top rated team in the state, yes. However, ranking them top 25 nationally when their existence is currently limited to keyboards and paper may be a stretch though.

Keep in mind that Phares, Guyn, Euton, and Jackson's teams weren't in Rupp this past season when placing such high expectations on a young but talented squad.

Coach Hicks is a heckuva coach with limited talent.... so he should be on another level with this roster! They'll be nationally ranked cause a lot is about your tradition as well as talent and schedule. Indiana and kentucky basketball is respected nationally so they'll be there if theyre the #1 team in the state.

Agree he's a fine coach, but when has SC had "limited talent" in the last 10 years or so??

Wasn't he a good coach at his other schools? Wasn't he at Corbin? Think they made the Sweet Sixteen. Not a state power. I know Owensboro played Scott Co. in the Sweet Sixteen back in the early 90's and he wasn't their coach. Plus I know a lot of coaches that have talented teams that can't put it all together! He's done a heck of a job building that program into a national power!

Not sure if I was a national pollster that I would have them in my top 10, but I would definitely have them in my top 25 to start the year. After seeing how they mesh and perform against their schedule they might move up into the top 10 by years end, who knows. Hard to say with at least 4 D-1 players with size, speed, & athletic ability, to go with an outstanding coach it is hard to imagine that they aren't top 25 in the country. I wish they were back in the City of Palms so I could see them play again!:dancingpa

Depends on the final roster I'd guess? Hard to know who's going to decide "Georgetown's a great place to live and work next"?? :D:D

Nice!!

Not too sure they're a top 10 team in the country. With as much talent that they have there are teams around the country who have even more high profile players on the same rosters. Top 25 is more reasonable. They will no doubt be the team to beat the next two years in KY.

Scott Co has several solid D1 players but none are "superstars" who will be McDonalds All American caliber players.
