The SBDM has one choice in mind(The wrong one) The principle has another choice he wants. Meeting today to decide. The word should be out shortly.

Golfer Dad, how do you know so much about who the SBDM is supporting and who the Principal supports. It was my understanding that these were closed sessions and nothing was to leave the discussion table.

I'm more than confident that the Principal, Asst. Principal, and AD will make a great decision on the hire. There will never be a consensus on who is the best person for the job in this thread. It seems that most who have an interest are supporting different folks for different reasons. I just hope they chose someone who will be a good role model, knows the game, has varsity coaching experience, and can work to build-up the Marv Meredith League.

The principle wants to hire the best choice. But will he have the integrity and guts to go against certain people who disagree with him. Its his decision.

I couldn't care less who gets the job, but you keep spouting your OPINION like it's gospel. It makes you come across arrogant. Gets people riled up. "Best hire" is simply who YOU think is the best hire. If DevilMom thinks someone else (hypothetically) is the "Best hire", who is right? Even if you were, your tone drives people away from your opinion.

 

Just my two cents worth, I'm not sure why someone who's job will most definitely require more after school time/extended summer work schedule than a regular teacher and who also has NO real varsity experience and definitely NO head coaching experience is the "best choice". They might very well be and be successful, but there are a LOT of issues to push around. Also, I know for a FACT that this individual told the site base council that if the head honcho job at the Primary came open, they would try and get that job. If that happened next year, would Russell be back to hiring a head coach again? It is a stress on the SBDM in considering a candidate and makes it hard to see why they are the clear cut "best" candidate.

 

If you want my opinion, I think Ron Reed would be the "best hire". He has head coaching experience, he is retired thus not requiring a teaching position for the candidate, and also has all the free time in the world to dedicate to the job. He may not do the best candidate, but on paper, he appears to be the "best hire".

Just stating my opinion grover. Don't really care if you or anyone agrees or disagrees everything on here is opinions anyway. I do agree with you on coach Reed.

Just as Grover has stated, alot has to do with whom you think best meets the needs for the position. Whether the SBDM, the principal, the players, the fans, the community realizes it or not, the Lady Devils Basketball program is at the crossroads. If the wrong decision is made then in 2 years there will be another coaching vacancy. Having no head coaching experience is not that big of a deal if the philosophy and knowledge is there along with teaching skills and passion. All great coaches are rookies to begin with.

 

There have been plenty of successful varsity coaches to win at the school where they got their first head coaching start.

 

I have stated all along that Cassity is the best choice and that is not a knock on any other applicant.

 

My prediction about Dodd has come to pass as well. I stick to my guns (thoughts) about Russell hiring Cassity. I will also predict this, if Cassity is not hired then Russell will see a dramatic shortage of players over the next

1-2 years and may want to consider playing in the small school division of the middle school ovc.

Golfer Dad, I understand and support you stating your opinion. It's the purpose of this board. I'm just letting you know that (at least to me), your tone comes across as arrogant and condescending. If you're cool with it, then I'm cool with it. It just turns people off of your opinion.

 

As far as Cassity being the best choice, he may be. However, I think the fact that he is an assistant principal is his MAJOR weakness. He will have countless duties after school and in the summer, ad I know that he has desires of pursuing the head principalship should it come up. I don't blame the guy there at all, but if you know going in that the guy may be a short term candidate, it makes for a tough choice. I think if he were just a full time teacher, it would be a different story.

Good post grover. I agree and apologize for coming across that way. I just want the best for the girls program as well.sometimes we let our emotions run to high. Thanks for the post.
