My points exactly!

Who's eligible to play in the CCYFL, and how are the teams formed? I recently saw an ad for a certain Campbell County Parochial School offering all CC Diocesian middle school kids to play on their middle school teams--Do they play in this league, as they don't play in the NKYFL?

I'm with you the mud and mess are apart of the game. I hate turf.

 

 

I used to be with you on this. However, after Dixie got their new turf field I couldn't believe how much it felt like a well maintained grass field. And with all the other school and community sports being played at Dixie, turf was definately the way to go. I must admit it though, my son did miss playing in the mud pit that used to be Dixie's field.

We will see how well this works out in thr future.

I know the coach's they,nice guys. They are parents who kids didn't get to be stars. So they took there kid elsewhere and became coach.

Tell me how that helps the high school. The've hAD A middle school team with 80 kids for years. Have CC played any better? No. Same old thing. Go to the playoffs 1 out of every 10 years. Even Corson did that and he got fired.

I have no problem with that league. It is a T-shirt league. we play in a competitive league. This is not for everyone.

 

Does the high school want players from the Red DEvils?

And I don't for the life of me understand why (in spite of saying that you have no problem with it) you keep wanting to belittle the CCYFL (saying its a T-shirt league, or implying that the parents of kids in that league only signed their kids up in that league because they couldn't cut it with the Red Devils, or in your words "get to be stars"). I'm sorry, but I've seen the Red Devils play and there is no doubt that many a player in the Ft. Thomas Jr Football League (another T-shirt league by your reckoning) could have easily cut it with the Red Devils. And you continue to belittle the coaches of that league because they are parents. I have to tell you something, I coached as a parent in the Ft. Thomas league and was a first team all state, all classes high school football player (both AP and coaches teams) and was an all conference college football player. I may not have been a "professional" youth football coach, but I'll stack my knowledge of the game and my coaching skills up against you and any other coach in the NKYFL, even though I was "just a parent". I admit that not all the parents coaching in the Ft. Thomas league knew as much as I did about the game, but through the coaching clinics put on by the Highlands coaching staff, they learned a lot. Even more importantly, because they were parents of kids on the team, they knew that they wanted to make participation fun for the kids, keep them interested in and keep them playing, which I think is the most important part of any youth sport.

 

I understand your wanting to defend the Red Devils, having poured your heart into it and somewhat feeling threatened by the creation of the CCYFL and perhaps now feeling unappreciated, but in my opinion, your attacks on the CCYFL are doing a disservice to the Red Devil organization.

 

How does the CCYFL help the high school football team, you ask. The fact that you have to ask that question is somewhat revealing. The more kids that play youth football on any level and remain interested in football helps the high school football team. Its as simple as that. Kids have so many alternatives these days; turn a kid off to football in the 4th grade because he got little playing time in the games, and he'll find some other activity to do. And from my observation, a huge majority of kids that quit football as youngsters never return to the game in high school. And that hurts the high school team. So if the CCYFL keeps more kids interested and playing football, it will pay big dividends to the high school team in the future.

This is as ridiculous question there is.

Now Campbell has a T Shirt league. You are just going out of your way to offend just about everybody aren't you? Your rants will not do anyone any good. But, keep it up. It will help feed your ego.

 

Many high schools have actively started and expanding their middle school programs in the last few years. Even Red Devils knows this. But, he wants to singular attack Campbell. Leatherneck made a great post regarding the postive and strong approach to developing programs vs. as Red Devils wants to think is "competitive".

 

There is plenty of room for both leagues. But no one is entitled to ridicule and poke at those who are trying to make a difference for Campbell County or any high school. Red Devils you need to settle your emotions down. It is getting the better of you and frankly, you are starting to embarass the organization you care about.

I was just up at the stadium and the grass is turning dark brown to light brown. For all you people that are worried about the Bermuda, I think it will be in by the season. If you looked at it last year, it was one of the best looking fields at the start of the season. It takes a few years for the Bermuda grass to fully grow in. If you ask any player or former player, I don't think their would be that big of difference playing on the new turf vs. Bermuda (w/ Crum rubber). That is if it is taken care of correctly or weather does not enter the equation.

First off great Post by Leatherneck, couldn't have said it better myself. RedDevils, I have nothing to say about the arrogance you posses in the last post. To call the CCYFL a T-shirt league and act like the Red Devils is a premier team is just somthing to laugh at. At that age kids need to have fun playing the game such as Leatherneck said, its not about an ego driven coach and ego driven parent that will help a high school team in the future. Its about making sure the kid loves to go to practice every night, develops friendships and loves the game. I have known many of kids come from Red Devils and were top notch players while they were there, turn out to nothing or even quit in high school becuase they are just burned out. I myself being a Red Devil and playing at the high school had many thoughts of giving the sport up completely in high school, even though I was a starter and playing a major part of the minutes in each game. I was tired of the 6 days a week practices and making that games such a great part of my life, I had been doing it since I was 8 years old and was sick of it. I loved baseball and basketball because "They were coached by Parents" whom made it fun for us all every game, and it stayed that way throughout high school. When your son gets to be an age like myself you look back at your little plastic trophies and laugh, not really caring because quite frankly it was just a kid game that means nothing, I mean seriously its a $2.00 trophy. I cared more about the bonds and friendships I made thoughout the years that still have lasted today. And if thats why the CCYFL will do then I think its a great thing, while teaching the kids to play the game and also love the game for a life time.

Oh yea and the bermuda grass, it will stay brown until roughly late may early June and then will turn green. It's no big deal, anyone that has been around turf lawn will tell you this, unless you put a solar blanket on it this time of year then it will green up. But until we get nice warm mid 70 in the days and warmer nights it will stay brown, its just dormant for the year and you can't do anything about it, its that type of grass. And like I said before anything that is green right now on that field should be pulled because its a weed and not bermuda grass, most likely crab grass.
