Despite the loss of 30 plus seniors from last years 4A state championship team the Knights looked pretty good today. There were a little over sixty players involved and there was good size and quickness. Qb Nick Ward came on strong last year and looked very good at times tonight. His footwork has improved and his passing was right on. The receivers dropped a few catchable balls but also made some good plays. Tight ends Bryce Andrews and Dan Vogelsang looked especially good to me. There is some help needed at wideout. The line play looked pretty good with good size on the Oline and good quickness on the Dline. The number one offense was matched against the number one defense. The running game should be excellent with Greg Raglin leading the way. He has put on more muscle since the fall and looks like another Moncel Allen (UK runningback). He was ably backed up by Lee Ramsey, a slasher who was very quick at hitting the hole. Ryne Least had the biggest run of the day but it was against the second string defense. The Knights offense obviously has some talent but the defense kept the scoring down which is a good sign. I didn't know most the players and may have made a mistake or two in these comments but it looks like another promising season for the Knights.

How would you compare this team with Knight teams of the recent past?

More like last Justin Burkes (2005) senior year due to the improvement in pocket presence by Ward. They have good size and athleticism overall. Running back and quarterback look especially strong and deep. The defense has improved a lot since coach Letton arrived and they also looked good. The Knights are reloading and will contend with Bell County in 4A. I don't see them beating St. X or Highlands but they should be competitive in all their other games.

Vogelsang + Raglin should have really big years. Where is Will Letton playing now?

He is still at Catholic, it will be his senior year.

What position is he playing? Safety?

Number two Qb and linebacker I think.
