Looks like Nichols, from just common baseball knowledge of pitching rotations, etc, will face Scott on friday

All 5 of Dixie's runs were unearned. Camel defense was horrible at best. The Nichols kid did shut down the Camels. He kept them off balance the whole way. I think he only gave up 3 hits. Woodruff pitched 3 solid innings until his defense fell apart. Better luck tomorrow Camels against Highlands. The Camels need to bring Nick Shay up to play shortstop as his glove and bat and arm are better than anyone on the varsity. Zach Sellers should also be brought up to do long relief and close. Woodruff is pitching too good to lose games like this.:irked:

 

I guarantee you Shay's glove,bat, and arm are not better than most on the Varsity squad.If he was that good he would be on Varsity.From what I've heard he has off the field issues;grades and etc. The Camels don't need those distractions.He needs to get his grades and etc. in order before he comes back to play for JV.Woodruff has pitched pretty well so far.The 4-5 errors every game is whats really hurting the Camels.It's still early in the season.I have faith in Coach Herringer and The Camels:thumb:

Woodruff from Campbell is a good pitcher as well, but when he gets no run support it's tough to win a game.

So Camel 1505 your telling me that you should sit a kid down on the varsity team and give playing time to a kid who has been having not only grade but "other" problems off the field a chance. Are you serious? Why give innings to a kid whom you will never know will be there day today because of grade or trouble issues off the field? You will never get team chemistry with somone who has those problems. He is letting not only himself down, but his teamates as a whole down, not on the varsity level but on the JV level. A program is bigger than any 1 player, and right now it sounds that he is not being a player he is being a distraction. I will say this, he has the most talent out of many kids up there when you watch, but if he really wants to be special, and be a leader (which the camels need) then he has to get himself straight off the field first. You can't count on somone who might not be there day to day.

The errors will not be going away. These are simple plays that 90 % of the kids in SWOL make all of the time. Coach Heringer may be a nice man but he isnt the right person to evaluate talent. Even better, lets hear his credentials?

I think your comment about moving him up right now with his grades are correct. Would it hurt the head coach to chew him out and tell him that he has the potential. Some kids think what the heck when they feel as though they are as good or better in this case and noone is paying attention.

By the way the Camels made no errors in the game against Highlands today.

I stand corrected and hope things continue to get better for the Camels.

Nick Shay played at Scott as an 8th grader. He has been at Campbell County since his freshman year. This kid can really play and hit.

 

That's right! He played football 3 seasons ago for Scott's freshman team. I think he was the QB.

I will definitely agree with that but when he does he needs to be called up. As a sophomore he is definitely a better hitter than anyone on the varsity as a hitter with the possible exception of Woodruff. He just does not strike out. He is also more athletic in the field and with a lot stronger arm than anyone attempting to play short.

 

 

Your post leads me to believe that you are either a high school student who doesn’t know any better or an adult who doesn’t have a clue. You seriously want to promote a player who has missed games and practice time due to behavior and academic issues. That just blows me away. Is this message you want to send the other student athletes within the program? Society is quick to blame others, whether it is teachers, coaches, bosses, co-workers, etc. How about being responsible for your own actions. Organized sports, in general, is a great avenue to teach many of life’s lessons; teamwork, pride, humility, and responsibility.

Let the coaches’ coach and as fans cheer for your team! Yeah you have the right to critique and be the “Monday Morning Quarterback”, that is your right as a fan. But please at least make your opinions intelligent in nature as when you are pushing the point of seemingly wanting coaches to overlook issues with grades and behavior inside the classroom you are truly sending the wrong message.

 

You also question the credentials of a coach….what are your credentials to criticize, oh yeah, you paid to voice you opinions on blog site. I am quite certain the coaches credentials were looked at and taken into consideration when was hired. A Regional Finalist and few district championships during his tenure seems pretty good to me. Should we live in the past, no, but let the season play out. I have faith in the program, the coaches, and in the player’s ability and their desire to do well. The Shay kid might have the talent to play at the Varsity Level but you must get it done in the classroom first. The Camels don't need a player like someone said that might not be eligible to play especially at the Varsity Level. As far as him playing quarterback for Scott's Freshmen team he was an average football player at best but from what I am hearing he must be pretty good at baseball. I wish the Camels the best except when you play the Eagles.
