April 7, 200818 yr After reading the thread about Love, and Hansbrough, it got me thinking. Who were some of the great college players that weren't so great in the NBA? I will throw out a couple. Dwayne "Pearl" Wahington Christian Laettner Could name some more, but I'll let others throw in some names.
April 7, 200818 yr Phil Ford - The best college point guard that I have ever seen play. Ford was a three-time consensus All American who started for the Olympic champion USA team in 1976 following his sophomore season. I had UNC, but the four corner offense was a thing of beauty with Ford running the point. Ford averaged 11.6 ppg and 6.4 apg before retiring from the NBA in 1985. Bill Walton - The best college center that I have seen play. Injuries severely limited his effectiveness in the NBA, although he did have a few good seasons. Sam Bowie - Another great college center whose injuries put a major dent in his NBA career. I always felt that Bowie was very underrated as a defensive player. J. J. Redick - Great college guard a mediocre NBA player at best.
April 7, 200818 yr J. J. Redick - Great college guard a mediocre NBA player at best. Someone say JJ Redick?
April 7, 200818 yr For the record, I think the jury is still out on Redick. He could turn out to be a decent role player.
April 7, 200818 yr For the record, I think the jury is still out on Redick. He could turn out to be a decent role player.Maybe, but his playing time is headed in the wrong direction and his shooting is not going to get much better.
April 7, 200818 yr Joesph Forte, Hurley, Mercer and the NC state combo of fire and Ice... To be fair....
April 7, 200818 yr I'm sure that the Wolves would have rather paired Matrix, Corey Maggette, Rip, Jason Terry , AK47, Manu or Andre Miller instead of Wally World.
