UK Fans Need to Stay Off MySpace

Featured Replies

Or Eric Gordon by the Illini fans.

Exactly...there are countless examples of horrible behavior. It embarasses me to be a UK fan when I hear of things like this. However, it's also embarassing as a sports fan, because this kind of behavior is not exclusive to UK fans (although that's the implication we get sometimes)...this stuff happens across the nation by fans of all kinds of teams...college sports, professional sports, traditional powers, up-and-comers, etc. It's people in general, not just one group. It's pretty sad though...especially at the college level when we're talking about kids under 20 years old to a large degree.

It would be a pretty elaborate prank to create an account named "We Are Kentucky!!" change your entire theme to match UK, get a couple hundred friends (including every UK basketball player) and have the profile for over a year (the comments go back that far, and they're ALL about UK) just so you could fake being a UK fan.

Like it or not, they're genuine 18%ers.

Stupid actions, buts its nothing unique. When you have a public profile on a public website, its going to be seen by the public. Some idiot could walk up to him at McDonald's and say the same stuff. The only difference is there's more idiots on the internet, and they get to be mostly anonymous.

^ So this is one fan? Still doesn't make it right. There are idiots everywhere. The internet just makes them easier to find.

No, I just picked one. Plenty of others...

It'd make it in a court of law. If I came up with IP addresses and sworn documents, you'd still say there was doubt in your mind.

It's not that hard to find the page. Go look for yourself.

No, I have helped a former client in a similar case and that's the ONLY way you'd win in court is by providing IP addresses and times. I traced a child predator to the exact second that he was sitting at a computer in a campus lab like that. They had his picture, nicknames, e-mail addresses and the whole nine yards already, but they didn't have a case until I tracked him to the computer and they saw him on the lab security cam.

But that's where you had to prove it was one specific individual. I think most people would agree that there is not much reasonable doubt that who ever "We Are Kentucky!!" is, he's a UK fan. Much like there was little doubt that whoever that guy they were tracking was a child predator before his identity was confirmed.

There is plenty of reason to believe that he is a Kentucky fan, but you just never know.

Yeah, we may never know if Elvis is still kickin' it with Martians or not, but at the level of reasonable doubt...

I do think it happens everywhere, JJ got lambasted by Virginia faithful, and he never even cam close to committing there. These are UK fans doing it. They are the state school here, so it is in our face more. Fact is, they aren't helping their favorite school in anyway, by being a fan or not.

Are we trying a court case here?

Surely we can all agree that there is a certain portion of UK's fan base that is an embarassment...just like nearly every team has. We just get to see more of Kentucky since we live here.

Oh c'mon. You know JJ deserved everything he got. Especially from Maryland fans.

;)

All you have to do is read the comments after stories on FoxSports to realize that every team has nutty fans. Contrary to the beliefs of some, UK does not hold the patent.

UK fans need to stay off of myspace, or these kids who are going to play in the NBA need to stop whining and grow a pair. Either will do.

Still no proof.

It's funny what you choose to believe.
