Lynn Camp returns a majority of their starters, but Roskoph is gone and Abner is gone. There lies the big question for the team. Who steps up.

 

Lex. Christian returns the majority of their team, also, do they not?

Pikeville returns RB Daniel Harmon, G/DT Trey Branham, S/RB Josh Mullins, WR Tyler Baker, DB James Cleary. While we lost alot from our senior class. We got kids like QB Blake Branham, LB/FB JR Robinson, LB Ross Mccoy, WR/DB Taylor Ratliff, G/DE Ben Staggs, DT Jarred Anderson, and WR/DB Jay Martin who gained alot of valuble game experience having to start games due to injuries last year. IMO we have a strong senior class that will provide something that this team hasnt had since '06 and thats solid leadership.

The VERY young kids (several sophs and even a few FROSH!) being pressed into service at Pikeville last year will be a blessing in disguise for Coach Copley's team this year.

 

As mojo mentioned, there were some major losses -- especially on both lines and at LB. But, the steady, never-miss-a-workout approach of guys like Ethan Murray, Ben Staggs, Ross McCoy, and several others will enable them to fill those voids (I predict two of those with several years still to play: Staggs and McCoy...along with Taylor Ratliff -- will be names that stir up echoes among Pikeville football faithful like many of the legends of the past).

 

Also heard Blake Branham had a GREAT spring running the QB spot. We all knew with his desire to "be the man" that his improvement curve would be steep. Nobody deserves it as much as he does...great attitude and determination while "waiting his time in the wings."

 

The excellence of guys like Daniel Harmon and Josh Mullins and Trey Branham are pretty much forgone conclusions. Glad to hear Jay Martin is making a complete recovery -- really stepped up last year and surprised a lot of us with his consistency doing "the little things" at receiver. Hope Tyler Baker can get in the swing of things...that could be a big key.

While I would like to believe that, Hazzard, Raceland and Beechwood make me think that there is no "1" favorite this year.

Crittenden Country brings back either 20 or 21 starters back...

Williamsburg returns 18 starters, which include QB and top 4 receivers.

Didn't C'ville only lose 2 kids and Lynn Camp 5 in this district? This district was very close last year and looks like it is shaping up to being a free for all next year.

Trimble brings back 2 on offense and 3 on defense.

Raceland returns most of last years starting lineup. The offense only lot one WR and one OL. The defense lost one LB, one DB, and one DL.

Just bc Raceland as a ton of returning starters does not garauntee anything, no one is going to come out and lay down and give it to you.

Absolutely correct. Having the talent and experience is two pieces of the puzzle, but it does not replace hard work and dedication.

:confused:There's a little 1A school by the name of BEECHWOOD that I don't think is in any hurry to give up there stranglehold and domination of Class 1A.

Until LCA or any other Class A team starts racking up championships then the road to the 1A title always runs thru BEECHWOOD.
