He doesn't even deserve it over Hopper.

Check out ST, he beat out both of them. :sssh:

Yeah because we all know that managers just use Spring training stats to determine who should start.:rolleyes:

When you are told it is an open competition they are suppose to. Freel is better than Patterson.

Better at what?

Freel can just about single handedly win games or lose games for you buy running you out of an inning. Not the most intelligent base runner to don the Reds uniform. I like Freel...but I don't know if he's the everyday starter for a team I'm hoping makes the post season.

His career OBP and AVG is better.

So why aren't you arguing on behalf of Norris Hopper instead of Freel?

Alright! Haven't thrown the 1st pitch yet, and we're on the 2nd page. Amazing what a little Ryan Freel debate can do for a thread:thumb:

Because Hopper only has 1/2 a year, not enough time to see if its for real.

So you suggest keeping him on the bench in favor of Freel? How are you going to see if it is for real or not that way?

Last year:

Freel: 277ABs / OBP-.308 / AVG.-.245

Hopper: 356 ABs / OBP-.379 / AVG.- .332

I'll take Hopper.:thumb:

I would like to see him backup Freel and getting AB's that way, or as the 4th outfielder resting Griff.

Thank goodness you're not the Reds manager or GM.

I wonder why the Reds fan base haven't embraced Norris Hopper the way they have other players. He's a home grown product yet no one wants to see him in their outfield. They had rather have Freel or Patterson or Kal Daniels or Chris Stynes or Alex Ochoa out there. I like Hooper's game.

Thank goodness you're not the Reds manager or GM.

Why so much hate on Freel? Or all of your hate toward me! :madman:
