atticus7 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Since Louisville is facing NC I have had to do some soul searching. TN was easy. I could be for them because they were in the SEC. I knew it was illegal in most places but I could justify it. But Carolina has forced me to face my demons or I should say DEMON. I had, years ago, buried the emotional hatchet with UL and began rooting for them in football and basketball UNTIL Pitino began coaching there. My wife says I feel towards him like a teenage boy jilted by a girl and to get over it. So help me. Louisville is in Ky and is not NC. I should be for them. I want to REALLY be for them. But remember, it is not the school it is the coach. The same coach who said one year "beating Ky is like any other game" and the next year said beating Ky was "the greatest game of his life." I wondered if it was better than the 96 title or the final fours etc,. Do I miss the great years we did not have without him? It may be like Coach Petrino and Arkansas v UL in a football game one day. Someone give me a real solution. Show me how to be for UL when they play everyone but Ky. Show me how to root for them against NC. I believe I have made the first step because I want to. So be gentle.
Dark Horse Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Ihave no clue how to either i am in the same boat i watch the UofL games and want to cheer for them then in the middle of the game i catch myself cheering fo the other team but when the play UNC. Ill be cheering for the cards.. Man it stinks saying that.. I hate it.. But i have to cheer for a instate team and since UK and WKU are out U of L it is.:irked:
DADDY CAT Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 As long as the Vols are done, I can pull for either one. (Not that I would pull for the Vols over anyone, just wanted to see that they were done in print one more time.)I do feel an allegience pulling me toward pulling for the Cards, though. I guess I'd rather see the title come to KY anyway it can, if it is to be, and not to NC. Guess I'll know when the ball tips.....
racer4life Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I have Louisville in a pool for $160 bucks and I still hope they lose.
squibb Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I root for UK but I think we should all be for the Kentucky team otherwise.

I will give you a good reason...support our local boy of Winchester Ky...Preston Knowles. You know I would be supporting anyone from Lee Co...:thumb:
atticus7 Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 I know it is the right thing to do; it is doing it that is hard. I am going to try by focusing on NC and the negative feeling I have toward our closest competitor in wins.

You know I would be supporting anyone from Lee Co...:thumb: BINGO. You are right and I can do it without focusing just on the opponent's negative. Plus, knowing you are for UL, with your husband and I having been similarly situated geographically, shows me it can be done.

Yes it can be done.:thumb:
SEMPERFIFALCON Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I used to root for UL every game except the UK game, it wasn't until I joined BGP that I started to have a hard time with it...

And while you're at it, cheer with her for the UL women who also play North Carolina on Saturday!

Hasbeen Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I used to root for UL every game except the UK game, it wasn't until I joined BGP that I started to have a hard time with it... :thumb:Me too. I once had no problem rooting for UL, but since getting to know their BGP fans, I actually rooted for UT over them and sadly, I will pull for UNC over Louisville.
ladiesbballcoach Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Root for UL so that UNC doesn't get one game closer to UK for the all-time wins. You can always find solace in the fact that UL is still a pretender to the true cream of college basketball history like UK and UCLA has.
