Second, I need to take your post over to the casino thread and point out the bad things that can happen when you let the people vote on issues. From your perspective, it was a bad, bad time during prohibition but ALL THEY DID was give the people what THEY VOTED in. :lol:

 

It is our right to vote on things in this country. The amendment was passed and a few years later we realized we made a huge mistake, and it was repealed. That is how the process should work.

No, my logic is we should not ban things that do not hurt people. If it hurts anyone, it hurts the person that smokes it. That is their choice. People are allowed to damage their body with cigarettes and alcohol (those cause more damage than marijuana) what makes weed different?

How about the issue of Prop 20? It was voted on and OVERWHELMINGLY passed but those that are the ones to vote didn't get their way with the vote. We don't honor that vote and give the schools want they want by a large, large margin.

I will tell the mother of that son that she was not hurt by having her son steal from her. I will tell the mother of that son that she was not hurt via the worry of watching her son throw his life away as all he wanted to do was get high and not do anything with his life.

 

I will even tell him now that he says that pot sapped his will to want to do anything with his life and it has taken him 5-6 years to get to the point that he is strong enough to fight the battle to not get high, that it didn't really hurt anyone because I read it on the Internet.

 

I personally know too many stories of it ruining people's lives.

 

ABSOLUTELY, there are people that can do it and not fall down that well. But there are many, many that cannot.

 

Same with casino gambling debate, I simply feel the government should be about helping people and not making it easier for them to ruin their lives. I guess that is just the teacher in me that wants to see people do their best and not making avenues for them where it is easy for them to ruin their lives and give me another huge obstacle to overcome.

BTW, in KY, didn't the public vote and make gay marriage ILLEGAL? So, you would support KY's position on gay marriage is illegal because that is what the voters wanted and voted for.

I know plenty of people who have smoked marijuana and still smoke marijuana and there is absolutely nothing wrong with these people.

 

Are you saying because you've seen a few kids who have smoked pot that you know more than a scientist who has dedicated hours upon hours to studying the effects of marijuana?

 

 

I have seen more than one study go up in smoke (pun intended). Think of all the foods that were to be bad for you, but as it turns out if you consume in a healthy manner all are OK. Cyclomates(sp) were supposed to be bad, but they were put back on the market a few years ago. These are just some examples.

 

Besides you can make a study do about anything you want, with the right manipulation of questions and/or answers. If you are dealing with human behavior, if you want, a study can lead anywhere. Now the study of say gravity is another thing.

The son told me he stole to have money to buy pot. I felt that was evidence as he was stealing to get pot. He also said since he was up half the night stoned out of his gourd, he couldn't get or keep a job so he had to steal to get money to feed his habit.

On the last, would you be for getting rid mandatory public education for all youth and then educating people on the importance of them having an education if they chose one?
