March 16, 200818 yr No time to get it done. They sell out things in 10 min. but they have planned it for months to get it all set up. The logistics of it is not at all possible.
March 16, 200818 yr Author I'm sure when they planned this they were expecting a tornado to hit... looks like they had time, as im watching the Arkansas and Georgia game to let in another 1200 fans,, just a bad set up for a major tourney of this caliber. If they didnt have time, get Extreme make over, they build a house in a week , Im sure they can get organized to get 7000 people in a small building
March 16, 200818 yr Well since you know how it could have been done please inform the rest of us how the SEC could have done it? You have almost 20,000 UK fans, you have an Arena that only holds 9,000+, you'll probably have a lot of fans who threw away ticket stub, you'll have some people claim they had tickets but lost them during the chaos...So please tell us how you would have handled it?
March 16, 200818 yr We're not talking about Pikeville College vs. Union College, this is the SEC TOURNAMENT. Technically the Georgia Dome was a sellout this weekend. It doesn't mean that it was going to be capacity, but all tickets were at least originally spoken for (Scalpers, Stubhub, etc..) Do you really think they could have moved all the needed equipment to "Florida" in 12 hours (The game was officially postponed around 12 a.m. Friday and rescheduled for 12 pm)? There has been months of planning and event coordination for this, you can't expect them to seemlessly transition to a new venue in the span of 12 hours do you? I should be highly ticked off at this. I had GREAT seats, and instead of sitting courtside I was relegated to watching it from my couch, and when I get reimbursed for ym tickets I am going to lose money. But, I have no problem saying they did what had to be done.
March 16, 200818 yr So only media, friends and family allowed? Who was Miss St. Coach Stansburys with?

Sad thing to as only admin, family, really should been in the game, is this not what SEC said. Only 5 kids on the Dogs team from GA, a lot of family and admin at the game today. I think it has been a great run but lets stay true to what was said.
March 16, 200818 yr This is garbage, it's funny how the number of Dawg fans grew. I thought it was only friends, family and media.
March 16, 200818 yr I'm sure when they planned this they were expecting a tornado to hit... There are a ton of things that can go wrong in an arena to force it's closure. As something a s simple as no water will close a place like that. A contigency plan should be in place. to not have one is a joke.

I agree, you have to have emergency plans for all weather and disasters at all arena's...Should not be aloud to host events without one IMO.

The same way they let the extra 1600 in todays game .. carefully. If there were 5 schools draw for Lottery tickets.. If I was in atlanta after driving 10 -15 hours, I wouldnt of cared to pay extra for a ticket,,I know some people might not get there wives or husbands in,, but building should of been full, looked stupid empty and like espn said,, THEY SHOULD OF BEEN BETTER PREPAIRED,,, Same thing if the lights went out and had to move it,,, are you gonna let only 2000 ( people inside ????)

On a side note is that a polar bear that you are bear facts with? I don't agree that it would be that easy but I guess we just agree to disagree. I am a Polar Bear alumni is why I ask the first question.
March 17, 200818 yr I went to Atlanta and I'm not upset at how it was handled. Phillips Arena was pretty trashed too from the looks of it, so I dont think that was an option. Plus it was a matter of the cleanup downtown and having all those people down there. There was no way to accomodate all the fans. They gave each team an allottment of 500 tickets for their VIP's so there were at least some fans in there. Maybe they could have made it 1000 but really its hard to be mad with all the things going on. There isnt really a good back up in Atlanta and Phillips has to do their own thing.
