Conner 79 NDA 64

Congrats to the Lady Cougars. They were the best team in the ninth this year and deserving champions. Represent the 9th Region well, ladies.

No question they were the best team in the tourney. Does anyone think there was a special satisfaction for Conner by winning while all their "transferred out" players looked on?

Maybe the parents. Probably not the Conner players.

He looked as nervous as a longed tailed cat around a rocking chair. He still gets all worked up at games. Great guy.

I thought he was going to scratch the skin right off his arm!

I don't think I would say old New Cath star she is still playing college ball at TMC. To answer your question Jayme was much better at this point in their carreers. You are talking division I for Jayme and division III or maybe divison II at best for Allison at this point. Jayme could take over a game by herself Allison is not there yet. Their athleticism is not even close, But that is just my opinion.

Sounds like you are the DI expert cootyb25. You know, I have always heard that if a player can only shoot from the outside, and they just don’t have any moves to the basket, it can prevent them from getting a DI scholarship. Would you agree cb25?

I’ve been reading some of your other posts. Back in July you wrote, “I see it as Boone, Highlands, and NCC with ND knocking on the door. Conner has some good players but other than Hodges I see no other rebounders. and once again they will get hurt by bigger teams in the paint. Long and Beasley will be pressed from the minute they leave the locker room. How they handle that will determine how far they go.”

•You gave Conner no chance to win the region…..hmm.

•You recognized that big girls would be a challenge for Conner. However, you underestimated Gela Haynes, Jordan Kremer, and Sammy Johns, helping Stephanie Hodges play great team defense in the paint.

•You thought all the teams would press Conner. You were half right on that one. Most teams did press Conner the first half of the season. After they realized that wasn’t very effective, teams didn't press so much.

:D

I have seen Conner and Long play a few games and I would say that she is going to be a fine D-1 player if that is what she wants. She can shoot and she can drive the basket.:ylsuper:

DI is a very broad statement. We all hope our kids and kids from the area play DI but sometimes we have to face the facts and take a reality check. All great high school players can not play DI.

Two of the best guards I have seen in recent yrs were Erika Hallman and Katie Schweggman, both Miss Basketball winners. Erika, of course, went on to Kansas and had a great career and Katie was plagued w/injury at Miami and actually transferred to Mt St Joe to pursue a Physical Therapy career. So, I compare guards to these two great players when talking about playing DI and I haven't seen any guards in NKY w/their talent. There are some good guards around but to say DI, only time will tell. Remember, DI has a large pool of schools w/differnt levels of play but, hey, they are still DI.

If I could suggest just ONE thing to H.S. athletes that want to play at the next level, any college level, it would be GET STRONGER! College athletics is a whole new world and strength is a big part of it.

I agree. DI gets thrown out there a lot now and unfortunately, sets kids up for a disappointment when a lower level school approaches them. I will admit, I don't know the Conner girl that well, so I can't say my opinion on if she is a DI player or not. I have seen Hallman and Schweggman play and they were legit. Thomas More has 2 girls this year that transferred from DI. Which shows that some girls would rather play at a lower level (no shame) and get more time, then get less time at a higher level. It all depends on the kids. But bottom line for me, it is best to let the college scouts and coaches evaluate. I hate seeing kids hurt because someone has misled them on their level. But that is just my opinion.....

Sounds like you have something personal in this. What does driving to the basket and only shooting from the outside have to do with anything that I wrote. I think if I had nothing better to do than to go back and check all your posts for prediction accuracy I would be able to write a few things on here also. Not once did I disparage Allison or Conner. IMO I wrote she is not on the same level as Jaymie at this point in her career, and at this point D-I would be a stretch. But hey only time will tell and then you can go back and check my posts and let me know how I did.

Who is the girl from Conner that signed with NKU. Any information on her.

IBALL - Cooty said Allison is a college prospect. For most, that would be a huge compliment. There is too much stock placed on "D1". Many kids would rather be an impact player at another level as opposed to a contributor at the D1 level. Just look at the D1 transfers and D1 prospects that are now at NKU and TM. It should speak volumes to local player's that look for the "greener grass".
