I agree and disagree with this idea.

 

Agree: Internet seems to have made sin more rapid

 

Disagree: all sin has been around, well since the beginning, people have always lusted, had greed, so on and so forth.

I am really at a crossroads in my life when it comes to all of this, so when the posts come on here it makes it even worse. It appears to me that no one has the same interpretation of the bible. Catholics, Baptist, Christians, Methodist. I am not posting this to criticize anyone or anything like that. I am posting this because when I read more stuff like this it makes me want to run further away from these things. This might be another topic I don't know but going to 14 deadly sins now. Come on please is that all of a sudden we now know that there are more sins. There are certain things I think the human being just knows, like don't lie, don't steal, don't kill and so on. But now you are getting into very minimal things that does not really mean anything IMO>

 

To understand makes other want to run away, or it can reaffirm a position.

 

Even though all denominations have different interpretations, the one binding power is that Christ died for our sins, and it is through Him that we all might be saved!

Those have nothing to do with the sins that have been added. The new ones are all related to modern ills that have not been around.

The envirnomnet has been around since Genesis? Thou shall not murder for the embros! Where is the newness? Or in some people's view the church against science! So again where is the newness?

The new deadly sins that may lead to eternal darnation are polluting, genetic engineering, being obscenely rich, drug dealing, abortion, pedophilia and causing social injustice,

 

Jesus talked to a rich man about getting into heaven, so the obscenely rich was around.

 

Polluting was around as there were dumps at that time. What was the one called in Scripture? I am having a brain dead moment.

 

I believe there was drugs and drinking around at that time. So, there were drug dealers.

 

Murdering and killing babies would definitely been considered.

 

I would assume there were people who abused children in those times.

 

Definitely, there were social injustice issues in Jesus' day. Jesus said we would have poverty always.

I don't think that the list is trying to say "these things weren't sins before, but they are now." Instead it is a reminder of the grave nature of these actions.

AGAIN, all these relate to issues that did not exist in their current form, in ancient times. Simple as that.

No. They didn't have cars, airplanes, etc. in ancient times, so pollution was not as relevant. It was a sin then like it is a sin now. But the list is just a reminder of how grave of a sin it is.

For me being the Catholic Church had nothing to do with. I have been studing all kinds of religions during the past 3 months and have came up with some interesting stuff.

So, Jesus didn't talk to a rich guy? Obscenely rich people didn't exist in OT/NT time?
