Both teams are pretty even, although they play very different styles. I wouldn't want to put "money" on a win by either. I might give Station the edge, just because I am so impressed with Mack in tough game situations. This one could go either way.

 

BTW, I wonder if Champ Ligon will be back at Bryan Station next year regardless of how they finish out?

 

I liked how Ligon won the region Coach of the Year award after Station tried to get rid of him over the summer. It's a nice little "in your face" from him to the administration. A state title would be the icing on the cake. Then how about he leaves them after doing that? :laugh:

 

I say Ligon takes the next big job that opens up in Louisville.

I'll take Station by 3, this will be a classic.

On a side note, if Lexcath wins this game, they will finish undefeated in region play. Quite an accomplishment considering the talent in the 11th. I still don't understand why these two teams are in the same region but haven't met yet.

Shelvin Mack is the epitome of what a point guard is suppose to do for his team:

 

Make each of them play better by setting them up to succeed.

 

Bryan Station has a huge advantage at this position. When the game is on the line (and I think this one will be), the point guard makes the plays.

 

I think Lexington Catholic's length, especially inside, will bother Bryan Station. When all is said and done I think Mack will be the difference.

It has to do a lot with the Fayette Co. boycott I'd guess. Until recently Lex Cath couldn't even get schools like Dunbar or Lafayette to play them until the regionals. Now that they are district foes that isn't the case but if some people had their druthers, Lex Cath would never play a public city team.

I agree with most people's sentiment that Lex Cath is going to have to take care of the ball and get Bryan Station out of their game plan to win. Sanford and Tribble for Lex Cath make too many unforced errors in judgement. The flip side is that I think Bryan Station must also take care of the ball because besides Mack I wasn't too impressed with their ball handlers today. Catholic can bring pressure defense when they need to. All in all I think Jordan Smart could be the key to a Catholic win, while for Station its just a matter of who can be Robin to Mack's Batman. If he gets support from his teammates I think Station will be hard to beat.

 

Can't wait for tuesday, its gonna be a good one.

This has the makings to be a great, great regional final. Heck, both teams are good enough that it has the makings for a great state semi game.

 

I've figured all year that at the end of the the day, LexCath would come out of the 11th. I've got to stand by that prediction now, though I absolutely think this game could go either way. I'll take Catholic in a close one, they simply have more talent.

 

That said, Mack almost by himself takes a lot of that talent edge away, he's that good. And I love what the Station has done all year long with their journey. I'm not sure how they did it, but they've made it work this year.

 

Good luck to both teams. The 11th will have a title contender in the mix next week with either of these squads.

Bryan Station 73-67.

Catholic will beat station. They are more disiplined in the half court set. IF combs gets into foul trouble then it's really over. The difference between the two is: Catholic has better post player and I think station guards (Shelvin and Monte) are better than Catholics guards. Catholic will beat station by at least 9 or 10.

Shelvin Mack takes over at the end of the game and Bryan Station pulls out a close one.
