The Hicks and Salsman technicals were both weird. Salsman got his in the first half for god knows what considering Hicks was screaming at the refs the whole game and than Salsman got T'd up without even showing much emotion. The only techs that probably made some sense were the player ones late where it looked like the player mouthed after a call.

Personally I don't think the game was ever called very well however it was pretty equally bad at least. I guess I'll be a little skeptical of any ref I remember once working my middle school games.

I agree, the game wasnt called well at all at either end. I cant tell you how many times on both ends of the floor I said "Wow, they missed that one."

Just a little info I picked up through the grapevine a few minutes ago. The technical that was called on Hicks was for a "hand motion" Hicks made. Now unless he flipped him the bird, I cant see a hand motion getting a T.

Also, the ref that called the T and subsequently took over the game has been on Hicks scratch list for the last several years. :sssh:

Who thinks he will be back on there next year?

One more thing, apparently I just found out a friend of mine spoke with one of the stat keepers who keeps track of this stat: Calls a ref makes one way or the other. The gentleman who called the technical blew his whistle 20 times and it was 16 to 4 in LC's favor.

Not a very good way for Sc to end the season. First they get throttled by Bryan Station and then Lexcath takes them to the woodshed tonight. Had a chance to make it to the game tonight and Lexcath has come a long way since their loss to Covcath.

Phares definetly got posterized tonight by Stewart. Probably one of the best dunks I've seen this year, and I've seen a lot having follwed Holmes the majority of the year and Seeing Henderson, Pittman, and R. Johnson dunk on practically everyone.

Good luck to LC in the fnals.

I keep thinking about the thread that talked about the 11th vs. the Sweet Sixteen... Has there even been a competitive game in the 11th yet?

Congrats to Lex Cath on the win. There is no reason for players to mouth to the refs and lose their composure.

SC and Franklin County, Madison Central and Dunbar, Dunbar and Station, LexCath and SC got pretty close for a little bit, it was very exciting to see SC come back even though they got blown out at the end.

Have you even been paying attention?

I have been score watching and it seems like there were a lot of games that weren't really close.

I mean, 74-45, 81-50, and 80-54 are straight up blowouts. Then there's 67-60 and 59-54, which are competitive but not great. The only game that seems like it was really good was 52-50 on the first day. I do think the championship game might make up for it.

How can you judge these games if you haven't SEEN any? You have been "score watching", I think we all know that a great game can't always be seen by the score alone.

Scores don't tell the story. Gotta see the game to get an idea of what is happening. Dunbar-Station was close and finally had Station pulling it out. Lex Cath-Scott Co. was close for most of the 3rd and early 4th before Hick's technical foul. Either way it was good basketball being played today.

:thumb: My point exactly.

Score watching? That is a solid way to judge games.

Have you ever seen state tournament scores? There are always several blowouts there as well.

Plus, we are talking about the 11th region. When you have 4 top 15 teams, there are probably going to be some blowouts. These are great teams.

I never said the won the game for them. I said they took the chance for a come back away.
It goes without saying that Hicks is one of the best coaches around, but in this case he may have been better served by coaching his kids more than he worked the refs.

I have seen this ref many high school games as well as games that I have coached in 5th -8th grade. He does not put up with any criticism from coaches at all. He gives you much more respect if you coach your kids and take the good calls with the bad. Last night it probably got to the point where he had enough.

In any event, after that "T", Scott County's kids basically fell apart, getting two additional technicals. Take away the 3 technicals and this game may have gone down to the wire.

I disagree that the refs took the comeback chance away as Scott Co could have controlled their emotions.
