March 6, 200818 yr This is part of Kenny Chesney's spring break tour. Apparently he'll be doing his "real" tour over the summer. I'm sure he'll be back to Rupp and/or Riverbend. Anyway, it was a surprise as it was announced early Thursday morning. I won't be able to go, but it'd be cool to be in that close of a setting with Chesney...like his music or not.

I'm having a hard time understanding why it would be cool to see a performer whose music you don't like in an intimate setting. :confused:

March 6, 200818 yr Why would he play there...? Because, almost universally, artists and concert-goers overwhelmingly prefer intimate settings. Despite Chesney's lack of talent, he at least has good sense enough to do something cool for his fans rather than acting in the interest of his pocketbook.

March 7, 200818 yr I heard on the radio today that his tickets for this show sold out in 30 minutes. I think you mean 30 seconds. They were unavailable on the website at 10:02.
March 7, 200818 yr You just bit his head off.. I'm guessing..? Sorry if he feels that way; it was only my intent to explain the benefits of the smaller-venue shows to both performer and artist. People who only go to the large-venue shows and the big stars that play them and don't check out the smaller, regional acts miss out on the joy of seeing an intimate show. Personally, I enjoy being able to walk up to a performer after a show, shake his hand and say, "thanks for a great show," and maybe have a drink with them as well. Another reason performers do it is to "test-drive" their new material for larger tours. Kind of a dress rehearsal for the public.
