Am curious as I saw something about this in the 9th region in another thread - Conner vs. Highlands - they had 16th region officials. Did some checking and the 6th and 7th are not doing this.

 

What does anyone know about any of the other regions and why are some and some not? Very interesting......

I am told it is up to the local AD's board. This year the 9th and the 16th are swapping but this doesn't occur every year, as the zebra's in the 9th stayed home last year. I'm also told that the folks in stripes or association prefers to trade regions but that this doesn't occur all the time.

I like exchanging refs because it gives those schools that make it to the state tournament a chance to see how different refs call the games instead of using your own refs in region and then all of a sudden, you have no idea how other refs call games once you get to state.

I will say the 9th will have more people doing State Tourney than the 16th, so i cant see how you could come up with the 16th got the short end on this one. I know that 3 people from the 9th are calling state tourneys this year. I would say maybe one from the 16th, if any, will make it.

Trust me - officials doing the state tournament doesn't necessarily mean great officials doing the state tournament :thumb:

In some ways having "outsiders" officiating the games isn't a bad idea. This way officials that might have it out for you because of an earlier instance can't do your game. People that are upset about having outsiders are the ones that know they might have an advantage from having an official that does a majority of their games. This way it seems more fair for all, or at least in my opinion!

Wow, im glad that Beechwood is not going if the 16th has anyone that i watch last night for either game doing the region or the state.

When people's teams lose they will bad mouth these officials as well, so it don't matter. I am sure it will happen in the ninth as well.

Completely unfair statement. I don't know of one official that "has it out" for anyone. This has been addressed in numerous other threads.
