Completely unfair statement. I don't know of one official that "has it out" for anyone. This has been addressed in numerous other threads.

 

Last I checked officials were human. I have seen the same official on back to back nights in the 9th Region let things slide at one gym, and be all over a different coach the next night for the SAME THING! Not so sure it is an unfair statement. I know in Ohio you can't have officials that you had at any point in the season. I like the idea. I know that if I was school A who had an official 10 times, and school B had them 1 time, I would think that school A has an unfair advantage to exposure......but JMO

I don't think the officials had it out either, that isn't what I am saying.

 

As a coach you have to adjust. If you go to a Holiday Tournament down south, you don't complain because they aren't 9th Region officials. You adjust.....

In some ways having "outsiders" officiating the games isn't a bad idea. This way officials that might have it out for you because of an earlier instance can't do your game. People that are upset about having outsiders are the ones that know they might have an advantage from having an official that does a majority of their games. This way it seems more fair for all, or at least in my opinion!

i agree 32, Conner had those regions call 4 of their games this year in the Queen of the Bluegrass. Still go back to my statement make a block shot or a layup and you win anyway HHS.

As a coach/player you can only control what you can control! Some officials let you play, some don't. Adjustments have to be made. Timeouts, end of quarters, halftime......

I know the 8th Region went out to the 6th and 7th a few years back...as an Official myself, it does not matter to me where I am, who I officiate with, or who the teams are...a foul is a foul! I don't wait to see if the ball drops through the bucket or not...I call it as I see it...enough about that...I do believe that the coaches in the 8th would rather keep their own officials as to swap...at least thst is what I have heard...Good Luck and play safe!

I too have witnessed this as well. There are those officials who do carry over - and call differently against certain coaches who they have had "disagreements." Human behavior makes it difficult to separate the two and is only natural. I am sure that they do try to be ojective for the most part though.

 

Officials are part of the game and you do need to just play and make adjustments as the game goes on. If they do switch that is not such a bad thing because they will have to face unfamiliar ones when they are at the state tournament.

When people's teams lose they will bad mouth these officials as well, so it don't matter. I am sure it will happen in the ninth as well.

 

In the 16th some people complain about the refs even when their team wins their first round district games but I won't mention any names.:lol:

Glad to hear there's some people who want the 8th Region officials. I guess from a coach's viewpoint, the known is better than the unknown. At least they know what they got.

After witnessing the first 2 nights of the girls 16th region tournament, I NEVER want to hear anyone complain about 16th region officials again!!

In viewing the 1st round of the girls 9th Region Tourney I can find very little fault with the officiating to this point wherever they are from. (I believe I was told the 16th)

You are correct!

I have watched games both nights at the girls' 5th Region tourney, and the guys from my days in the 12th Region have done a great job, as expected.

 

From what I've heard, the folks in the 12th have been largely complimentary of the job the 5th Region stripes have done over there.
