And btw, there was some of the dirtiest ball ive seen play all year from Augusta. Seemed like they were out to hurt someone.

 

Augusta did not have any intention to go out and play dirty. Coach Kelsch knows what he is doing and would take out a player if he saw one of them playing dirty. If you wanted Augusta to go in and lay down for the Royals you were dead wrong. That is not Augusta style of basketball. Those boys play from horn to horn with a lot of pride. There is a never say die attitude down in Augusta. The bottom line is Coach Kelsch has instilled so much class in these boys that they wouldn't do that to anyone or any team.

Augusta did not go into tonight's game with the intention of playing dirty. The intention was to play hard and physical to let them know they wouldn't just back down. There is a fine line between hard and dirty and a couple of the boys may have taken it a step too far. It also doesn't help that Augusta had not played that way all year because they

had not faced a big, physical team like Mason County this season.

 

The 2 starting guards did take it a bit too far. Probably from the frustration of not being able to score, which they didn't. #21 always seems to play dirty, noticed it in the Bracken game, needs to show a little class.

Enough talking about the kids being dirty no need to call out a kid with this stuff.Atown played hard and wanted to win also.

Would you drop the issue of playing dirty?

A couple of plays were hard fouls; basketball is a contact sport. I agree with mhighfield; let's not paint players with the "dirty brush" here.

 

Mason pulled all their starters with exactly 4:00 to go in the third. The score was 62-32 at the time. Mason's 2nd and 3rd squads dominated, outscoring the Panthers 42-17 over the last 12 minutes of the game. Some of those minutes were against Augusta starters (although they may not have had all 5 in at the same time after that point). Mason's reserves were really clicking tonight.

I liked what I saw from Mofford and Staggs tonight. Staggs gets a lot of production simply by working as hard as anyone on the court.

I'll give Coach Kelsch credit. Knowing that his Panthers were overmatched, he let them play. Panthers did not put the ball in the deep freeze. Coach K let them play. And they played hard.

No they didnt. Their best player, Staggs, was in with 3 minutes left.

 

Shooty was in the game with a bunch of young jv gaurds that were no match for Mason's Jv. Like I said before Mason to many gun's for anybody in the 39th. I was very proud of shooty he plays hard and gets his points no matter what the competition. If some the Mason county boy's would put out as much effort as he does every game they would be unstoppable. Good luck to both teams in the regional..

Pretty much only when the starters were in. Believe me, this one wasn't "run up". More a matter of Mason County's reserves playing exceptionally well; not pressing but anticipating passes and converting into easy baskets, shooting well and playing solid defense.

Had to listen on the radio and couldn't attend. I belive the radio reported that Augusta shot 64 or 65 percent the first half. The difference in the score being 17 turnovers the first half for the Panthers. Might have been a little closer if they could have handled the pressure. Hope to see Augusta give someone fits next week.

I have watched the Augusta team alot this year and I have never seem them play dirty did not get to go to the game last night but I did see the Mason County St pat game and if you want to talk about dirty ball Mason County garbbed and held pushed and shoved all night and nothing was ever called.Yes they are a good team but if they would call fouls then their press would not be very effective, I watched on several occassions the St Pat guards get their arms grabbed by one player and then another player take the ball. I call this DIRTY
