February 28, 200818 yr Author I have done that so often that I have a designated place to pull off the road and wait for the defrosters to catch up. It doesn't really get me that much closer to work but it feels like I'm making progress. Plus, it positions me so that I'm facing into the sun which melts the ice faster. I'm thinking I might try this next, but with a twist. Tonight I'm going to steal my wife's saline solution she uses for her contact lenses and dump it into my washer fluid reserve (which is always empty anyway). Salt water will melt ice, right?

True story. Last week when we got the ice storm, I was chipping away at the ice, like a millimeter a chip. So I got this brilliant idea that I would use table salt to soften the ice so I could get the windshield cleaned faster. (The car has heating issues) It actually worked pretty good. I was able to clear most of the ice from the OUTSIDE of the windshield. The downside is that ice started forming on the inside of the windshield where I had used the salt. :irked:
February 29, 200818 yr Wouldn't it just be so much easier if you didn't go to work? Then you wouldn't have to worry about clearing off your car. :ylsuper::thumb:
February 29, 200818 yr Park in the garage. It's so wonderful to get in my car with no ice or snow or rain on it in the morning.
