Holmes 78 Beechwood 51

Featured Replies

Final from the 35th per Riherd's.

A lot of layups and dunks for Holmes. Henderson was rather quiet. I guess Beechwood's coach didn't see the NCC-Holmes tape. They tried to run with them in the 1st half and were down 47-25 at half. Nice crowd for both games. Beechwood's boys played very hard. I hope they take some of the extra gate they got by giving up their turn to host the district and buy their boys some nice uniforms. They look like they are playing in gym class clothes.

Congrats to Coach David Henley and his Holmes Bullogs

What were those, we all decided that they had to be the practice uniforms.

They looked like something you would wear to Mr.Woodcock's class

Wasn't even close, Beechwood really needs to get new uniforms, I'm sure the football team has nice ones. To much talent prevailed.

Holmes played rather sloppy but still somehow managed to pull out a 27 point W. Their defensive pressure was just too much for the Tigers.

Holmes made a living in the paint getting a lot of lay ups and a few dunks as well. The one where Arrez split the defense and drove through the lane and threw down a 2 hand dunk was nice, but I think the two one handed tomhawk jams by R. Johnson and Pittman were probably a notch above his. Man can those two get up.

The big man for Beechwood, I think 15, or 12 (?) played a very nice game. He was a scrapper and got many of his points off getting easy lay ups from being in the right place at the right time.

All in all a good tune up game for the Dawgs before their match up with the school from Park Hills friday night.

Looking at the box score I was wondering how they got 47 in the first half. Was it pressure forcing turnovers or were they actually trying to run with them? They needed the final score to be 47 to have much of a chance. I still can't believe they are 25+ points better than Beechwood but they defenitely are or maybe more.

It was a combination of things. Beechwood broke Holmes press several times but when Holmes recovered they'd find a way to get a turnover or after a made Beechwood basket, by the time they turned around, Holmes was at the other end throwing down a dunk.

Defensively Beechwood had no answer for Holmes long athleticism. I think I saw Holmes take probably 6 or 7 jump shots from outside of 15 feet. They would drive and dish and get easy lay ups because the Beechwood defense would collapse on the penetration leaving someone wide open for a dunk or lay up.
