If Ethics ever visited Kentucky state government, he left long ago. The upside to casino gambling is that it may delay additional mandatory tax hikes on Kentuckians by implementing another voluntary tax on stupidity. The size of state government will continue to grow unchecked and the money to fund the bureaucracy has to come from somewhere.

I'm not so sure these tax hikes are mandatory if we can do some things differently and work on some fiscal responsibility. Instead of just saying we need more tax revenue we could try some reform and fiscal responsibility.

Spending increases during good economic times and when inevitable recessions strike, the state's reaction is to increase taxes to cover shortfalls. State sponsored gambling is just a means of raising taxes without paying a political price for it.

I agree, however I don't have to pay said tax....or much less than a hike would be. I am all for it. Wait until the state gets enough money, and that allows for homestead exemptions and such for us. It's coming....the casinos will help.
