February 28, 200818 yr I agree, however I don't have to pay said tax....or much less than a hike would be. I am all for it. Wait until the state gets enough money, and that allows for homestead exemptions and such for us. It's coming....the casinos will help. The state will never get enough money and that is the crux of the problem.
February 28, 200818 yr They need to get this crap over with so the higher-ed money can suddenly appear. .
February 28, 200818 yr The state will never get enough money and that is the crux of the problem. Nobody will ever get ENOUGH money....but we will get more than we do now...I am cool with that.
February 28, 200818 yr Nobody will ever get ENOUGH money....but we will get more than we do now...I am cool with that. When government gets more money, it spends more money and then comes the next economic downturn and it no longer has the money to cover its entitlement programs. When that happens, the government declares a crisis in education funding or health programs for poor children and convinces the public that higher taxes are unavoidable. Taxing and spending is a vicious, cynical cycle and eventually Kentucky's economy will look like Michigan's.

Michigan's economy is a direct result on the derelict ability and/or sales of the UAW products there. While I am not knocking their product.....it's huge loss of revenue hurt the state and its economy as a whole. The Commonwealth of KY is not nearly as dependent on that industry.....

While I am not knocking their product.....it's huge loss of revenue hurt the state and its economy as a whole. The Commonwealth of KY is not nearly as dependent on that industry.....Michigan's tax revenues suffered as its auto industry shrunk. Instead of cutting government expenditures, Michigan chose to raise taxes. The result is an unemployment rate that is one percent higher than any other state. Any state that responds to budgetary shortfalls by raising taxes, whether the taxes are on beer, cigarettes, the richest 1% of the population, sales taxes, franchise fees, excise taxes, user fees, or by generating taxes through gambling is just asking for trouble. Eventually, everybody will get their turn to pay higher taxes because smokers and gamblers have their limits.
