Congrats East!!! Hopefully we'll (ELLIOTT) will see you in Sandy Hook on Friday!!!

Congrats to Coach Baker and the Raiders.

Yes we (Elliot) will see EC Fri. at the Hook. ! ! ! ! ! ! !

HOPEFULLY yes

Sounded like West gave a valiant effort. Congrats to East on advancing and to West for having a very nice season!

Good game to see. East went up by 11 early. West made a 12-0 run to take lead. East displayed the mental toughness that the Fabulous Baker Boys have become known for and didn't flinch...instead they answered back with a 12-0 run of their own and never trailed. Many that I talked to agreed that this could have very well been Kyle Bair's best game as a Raider. Kyle is not a "pure point guard" so to speak but he is developing into a much better lead guard. He played very well. Also of note was the play of Chris Barker from west. He was tough down low. I would think that he has to be a small college player. Too bad for West. Most any other year a team like West would go to the regional tourny no doubt. But the 62nd district is tough this year.

Elliott Counties gym was crowded but could have held more. Many of the fine folks from Carter County were a little over the top I believe with their outlandish predictions of 1000 people being turned away... Elliott Co. did just fine as the host.

The crowd situation will get interesting on the night of the Elliott Co. games though.

First off let me congratulate the Raiders on a hard earned victory. They are well coached, and the players play hard, and are extremely good sports. As weird as it is to say it being a comet fan, I will root for the Raiders to make it to state, I respect them so much that i feel obligated to; they are as nice a group of boys as any coach could ask for. Coach Baker may well be the top coach in the region.

West Carter simply couldn't get anything going outside of Barker having about 24 or 25 points. Honestly, this is reflected on the coaching rather than the boys, imo. Webb made no adjustments at any point of the season, the Comets ran no plays or offense this year, and his motivational tactics are well...non-motivational. I seriously doubt if West even scouted East once after the seedings were set. Jeremy was a fine player but is simply not at the level of most of the coaches in this area, and unless changes are made in his approach to the game, I doubt if he ever will. Also, it would benifical to him if the coaching staff were a little less unbiased seeing as how 3 of the 4 coaches are family and have two players that are in that family, this is a tough situation for as you cant objectively look at all the players because of taking care of your own family. West would make a run tonight, by attacking the basket, then revert back to Webb ball, just passing around the perimeter and taking a bad shot. West had a very nice season posting their best record since 1999 i believe, and have nothing to be ashamed of. Best of luck to the Seniors in the future: Chris Barker, Joe Lee, Bo Thompson, Trevor Rayburn, and Kyle Meranda, you guys have improved so much in the last 4 years and have left alot of good memories.

Jeremy Webb is a fine coach!! The Comets shot 1 of 17 from 3 point land and many were WIDE open looks. The Raiders were sagging on Barker, triple teaming him at times! Coach Webb can't get out there and shoot if for them. I find it hard to believe that a team that wins 19 ball games didn't have a pretty darn good coach. This wasn't the most talented team in the region, but they found ways to win and Coach Webb needs some credit for that!

Well Go Radio, perhaps it's not that he isn't a good coach, but very inexperienced on the bench. And theres no denying that West had a poor backup plan last night. I would say they missed their first 12 or so 3 pointers, and Webb allowed for them to keep jacking them up. West has some nice shooters, but if you're not hitting you should focus on other parts of the game, or other ways to score such as taking it strong to the hole and drawing a foul. The refs were calling it tight last night, so it made no sense to not attack. Any way you slice it East has a very good team and would have been tough for West to knock off, but the style of play that was used would have made it nearly impossible.

On a side note, as flyintheflag mention, Kyle Bair did play a heck of a game as did Barnhill. I forgot to mention that in my previous post.

You live or die by that 3 point shot. We have seen it so often. If West had connected on 4-5 of those sots and we would have seen a Comet sweep. Good season West.Hold your heads high you had a great year. Be proud. GO EAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dancingpa:dancingpa:

East was collapsing very hard on Barker. The 3 ball was wide open all night. I think Webb was banking on 3 or 4 more going. As said earlier, you live and die by the 3 sometimes, and that was West Carter's game plan. I just can't fault Coach Webb for that. Coaches get way too little credit for wins and way too much fault for losses.

East had a good game plan, they have the better team and I will agree that Kyle Bair has come a long way in learning the point guard position. He is going to have to do it again Friday night, because Elliott will be riding him like a Walmart pony all night long. He will be pressured and I think he has grown up enough to handle that pressure. Should be a good one in Sandy Hook Friday night!

You will always score exactly ZERO on the shots you dont take......
