Beechwood vs. Holmes

Featured Replies

Why would Beechwood not want to host the tournament? Wouldn't happen in football.

It's all about the benjamins my man. Beechwood is still getting a cut from the gate. Holding it at Holmes will give them a bigger revenue.

Holmes won 63-29 at Beechwood. I think Beechwood had around 11 points after 3 quarters. I wonder how their players and coaches feel about the administrations decision to forego the homecourt?

I think the coaches agreed with it. It really is best for the game. If it is a Cov Cath/Holmes final, there are going to be a lot of people that want to see that. You have to adjust to the demand.

I agree it was the right thing to do for all of the teams and fans, but I can't believe they would give up the home court advantage in what has been one of their best seasons in recent memory. To me it sends a bad message to the kids and parents.

I understand why people feel they shouldn't give up the home court, and there is something special about hosting a tourney, but they already played Holmes at home once and it didn't work out too well. I'm glad they were realistic about the whole thing. Beechwood made a very good move here and should be commended for it.

That's what I'm thinking. How do you turn down you one chance in four years to host the districts? I don't care about Holmes and CovCath if I'm Beechwood. Would Holy Cross turn down their chance to host it? NO! How do you let this happen? That's unbelieveable! I didn't see the earlier game but I was very surprised by the margin. Maybe nerves or whatever but give them your best shot. Bigger turn arounds and bigger shockers have occurred.

Commended for what? Giving up?

I'm sure all of the extra money Beechwood will receive by giving Holmes the district will go right to the football program!

1. Holy Cross year in and year out has a better shot at knocking off Holmes or Covcath, so of course they wouldn't give up their chance to host.

2. Holmes beat Beechwood 63-29 the first time around, AT Beechwood. While Beechwood has improved over the year, I don't think they have improved enough to make up 34 points against probably the best defensive team in the state.

If generating more money for your program by letting another school host who's venue is 5 times the size of yours is giving up, well then I guess they should be commended for giving up.

Being realist, Beechwood, along with almost everyone else knows the final is going to be Holmes against Covcath. By letting Holmes host it, Beechwood will get a big gate from The Holy Cross/CCH game as well as the Holmes/CCH game.

It's all about being politically correct by doing what fans want and money when it comes to situations like this.

Naturally I am pulling for my Tigers. However, I realize that will be quite a feat. Here's hoping Holmes will come in waaaay overconfident:thumb:

I attended the first Beechwood/Holmes game with the hope the Tigers would put up a fight. Needless to say, I came away disappointed. That being said, the Tigers did not play very good basketball while I felt Holmes shot the ball well. I have attended numerous games for both teams this year and that was the worst I have seen Beechwood play, and one of the best games I have seen from Holmes. Romas did not play the last time if I remember correctly, but that does not make a 30 point difference. I see Beechwood hanging tough with the Bulldogs for a couple of quarters but eventually the best team will win. I'll take the Holmes by 16. Henderson and company play with an intensity the Tigers do not. While Romas may contain Henderson better than most, the fact is Holmes is deeper and more talented. With that being said, I will be pulling for the upset. I have attended more games for Beechwood this year than I ever expected. They are truly a fun team to watch. I also enjoy attending the Holmes games. Defensive intensity topped off with a few nice dunks every game. I hope to see a close one !!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that it was not a very smart move by Beechwood to move the game to Holmes. Next time, take any advantage you have. I'd much rather see a huge victory than a large money sum for the gate.

I'm sure all of the extra money Beechwood will receive by giving Holmes the district will go right to the football program!

Back to the game tomorrow. I see Holmes coming out flat for the first quarter, and possibly the entire half. Halftime score I predict to be around 31-27 Holmes. I think the Bulldogs regroup at halftime and blow out the tigers in the second half.

Holmes- 71

Beechies- 48
