Roomate Trouble

Featured Replies

Yes its 12 midnight, and I am steaming mad. My roomate has a habit of talking to his gf into the wee hours of the night. I have 9 o clock classes so I like to get to sleep by 11. I have asked him politely several times to either take it out of the room, or something. Yet he continues to ignore me. I am at the point right now where I want to scream Shut up with a profanity in the middle of that.:irked::irked::irked:

Me and my roommate established that the number 1 use of the room is sleep. Everything else is secondary. Even studying should be taken elsewhere. I'm lucky cause I (normally) go to bed early and he is up late doing homework, but he keeps the noise down and I am a deep sleeper. If you want, I will give him a piece of my mind for you

I have a roommate that likes to walk around the room naked! Not to make fun of large people because I am one myself, but he is around 6'3 387 lbs. (Was a tackle at Mainland High-School in Florida until he moved here.) We have told him to quit over and over again.

I have recently started squirting him with a Super-soaker every time he gets naked and makes a scene. BTW, we have a private bathroom in the room, so whenever we change clothes we can just walk in there. I don't have a problem with him getting naked, but he will do it if we have company!

One time the temperature was about 50 degrees and I had put ice cubes in my super-soaker cartridge :D He didn't do it for a while after that :D

I remember my freshman year at Murray State, my first semester, I had this roommate that reminded me a lot of the Bear in the Big Blue House. Well this guy was disgusting. He never had a class till noon, but for some reason insisted on setting not 1, not 2, but 3 alarm clocks for 8am. Well after a week of this my class wasnt till like 11, so ALL his alarms are going off at 8am for like 5 mins, so finally I sit up and he's laying in bed with his eyes open and not turning off the clocks. I get up, turn 1 off, turn off another and took the 3rd and threw it up against the wall with everything I had, causing the alarm clock to break in about 10 pieces, he just stares at me, 3 hrs later, I had a new roommate :D

What residential college did you live in?

Crank up your stereo everytime he gets on the phone so he can't hear. When he asks you to turn it down let him know that's how you feel when he is on the phone while you try to sleep. If he does it again, crank it again! He obviously isn't getting the point.

I have roommate problems also, but I am married to her! Good luck gentlemen!

Does he have to get up as early as you? If not, I would make it a point to turn on the radio/tv and make a lot of noise when I get up. Hopefully he will get the point.

Maybe when He is sleeping you could help him Mysteriously misplace his phone...:D:thumb::cool:

Today while you are somewhat calm I would try and speak with him to lay down some ground rules. When I was in college, my roommate and I also agreed that sleep was a premium in our room, and we respected each other's schedules. Now if he refuses to comply, then I would do like Beechwoodfan said and bang around with all the lights on and windows blinds open when I got up. If you have 9 am classes, you are going to be waking him up pretty early if he's been on the phone all night. I would also invest in some soft plug ear plugs--they really help! Good luck! Another thing, if he's on the phone all night he's not going to last long in college so you won't have to deal with him after this semester, most likely!:)

Not to compare stories, but I had a roomate at EKU that was a walk on the basketball team, he would come in every day and hang his socks, underwear, and undershirt on a jacket tree in the middle of the room for them to dry out......this was more than rather unplesant!

I was a down south Dirty "White" boy:D

I'd try talking to him one more time and let him know I'm trying to sleep, and if that doesn't work...raise your voice and let him know you are serious. lol
