Meeks Status?

Featured Replies

I saw him on campus last friday and he had a pretty bad limp. Doesn't look good. Hip injuries can be devastating to an athlete like Meeks.

Can Kentucky still redshirt him?

No he can't be redshirted this year but if he is unable to play the rest of the year UK can file for an extra year of eligibilty for him at the end of the season. This is what they did with Marquis Estill. It is usually not granted but in some circumstances it has been.

They should have redshirted him. They knew that he would never be 100% all year. This type of thing takes time.

It's worth a try because it's obvious he was rushed back.

Anybody know right off how many games Meeks has played. You can only play like 30 percent of your teams games I think in order to be eligible for the medical redshirt.

9 per ESPN (Cent Ark, GW, Houston, USD, Fla Intl, UofL, UF, UT, USC)

Meeks is at his limit then. UK is guaranteed 30 games this year and 9 games would be 30 percent.

Meeks did practice a little the other day. I dont think the medical redshirt is really an option.

I think the rule is 20%...
